HARTFORD – The United States Supreme Court has granted a petition supported by the Yankee Institute and will review a free speech case challenging the constitutionality of giving taxpayer money to political candidates.
The U.S. Supreme Court accepts less than two percent of cases appealed to it, so the Court’s decision to take this case for review is a big deal with national implications, said Fergus Cullen, Executive Director of the Yankee Institute for Public Policy, which supported the petition with an amicus brief.
Connecticut’s system of taxpayer-funded elections remains constitutionally suspect, despite the legislature’s eleventh-hour changes made last summer in 2009, Fergus Cullen said.
One of Sherwood's major accomplishment as Alderman:
In 2010, Walmart did $410 billion in sales. They posted a 2010 profit of $24 billion from their 8416 stores. Thanks to the radicals who joined this alderman in forming protests at their store, not one of these 8416 stores is located in New Britain CT anymore.
As you may recall, the company's response to their elected officials picketing in front of their New Britain CT store on Farmington Ave. was to pick up and leave this city.

Unless this commenter is talking about young , new alderman, Emanuel Sanchez he is wrong. Robert Sanchez cannot run for elective office unless he resigns his position from the Head Statr Program at HRA.

The latest gossip says, it is Robert Sanchez, not his nephew, Emmanuel who will run for Geragosian's seat in the legislature. Yes, all other things being equal, Robert Sanchez would be in violation of the Hatch Act if he ran, given his current position at HRA.
However, the DTC and HRA have collaborated; Robert Sanchez will be given a different assignment at HRA so that he does not violate the Hatch Act. This is the same "trick" used by the Democrats in 2002 to allow DeFronzo to run against Tom Bozek. It worked then and it will probably work now.
If it does, more musical chairs will be played by the DTC to replace Sanchez on the BOE, a position that was given to him by the Democrats. You see, you can be appointed to a position and not be in violation of the Hatch Act, you just can't run for it.
Oh well!
Rumor has it that Sherwood was ticked off when the DTC would not endorse him to run for the 25th District seat. He ran his mouth and the DTC said, "see you later!" It appears Sherwood has achieved yet another milestone in career in NB politics, namely, "Personna non grata!"
Many say this was a delayed Xmas gift to the city's taxpayers. Better than no gift at all.

Is it possible those who voted in Sherwood's district didn't realize what his record was?
Yes! It is very possible that people in Sherwood's district did not know that he was a real jerk!
How do you correct this? Simple.
1. People do not read The Herald. The RTC MUST get into their homes with direct mailing to alert the good people to think before they vote for Sherwood.
2.This is harder. Find someone like Mike Wanik in the district. There must be educated, knowledgable people in this district.

more news that the herald won't print, just like when he was hauled away in handcuffs by the hartford police and the herald didn't think it was newsworthy, could it be because although he is elected in new britain, they felt that a state representative who lives in hartford is not newsworthy to new britain?

Mike Wanik would be the best replacement...only problem is, he doesn't live in Sherwood's district. Maybe he should pull a Sherwood tactic...find an apartment in the 4th district.
