New Britain's loss will be the area's gain. Tim is very current, knows the ropes, is savvy, cares about NB. He deserves to move up. He has earned it. Gerrantana is another DeFronzo, but not as sharp.

Scary part is if Tim goes, who will be our next mayor?

NEW BRITAIN: When Gov.-elect Dan Malloy appointed state Sen. Donald DeFronzo to lead the Department of Administrative Services and help with Malloy's plans to downsize state government, it opened a seat in the 6th district in NB.. DeFronzo has represented the 6th district, which includes New Britain, Berlin and about 2,500 Farmington voters, since 2003.

Since his announcement, several people have come out and said they will run for the seat. Theresa (Terry) Bielinski Gerratana announced her candidacy for the state Senate seat being vacated by DeFronzo.
Former New Britain Mayor, Democrat Lucian Pawlak has publicly said he is thinking about a run for the seat vacated by DeFronzo.

Meanwhile current New Britain Mayor, Tim Stewart, is holding a press conference on Myrtle St. in New Britain in front of Celebration Foods Friday at noon to announce his candidacy for the spot.

This is a job that intrigues me, Stewart said. Don has had a hold on this seat for a long time. I know I can do a good job for Farmington, which he totally ignored, Berlin, where I probably know 90 percent of the population, and of course New Britain.

Mayor Stewart said he deals with unfunded mandates on a daily level and politicians think it’s protecting people, but it always has an adverse effect on municipalities. Stewart was at the Farmington Republican Town Committee meeting Wednesday night, gaining support. Chairman William Mastrogiovanni will join Stewart at the press conference Friday 01/07/11 at Celebration Foods complex at 12 noon.

Unless you are happy with the "hope & change" so far, the choice is an easy one.

Tim Stewart is an excellent choice for the Republican candidacy for 6th District State Senate, although he will be sorely missed as Mayor of New Britain. Hopefully, he will have as much a positive effect as a State Senator as he has as Mayor.

If only he could do both, because of what will happen to the city if the Dems get their hands on the mayor's office. Stewart has been like a magician holding the radical Democrats back from totally destroying this city.

Rumor has it that Tim can hold both seats as the state senator's seat is part time. Am I correct?

Terry Gerrantana has to be the worst choice to replace DeFraonzo.
Letting her son live in the pool house located in Berlin, she must know it was a illegal move and supported it. Then he got caught and she probably helped him buy a house in New Britain. Where was she and the MD when it mattered ?

NO, I think a dishonest person like her does not deserve a second chance.

Keep her home.
