...and what will he do if states decide to secede from the union?
Texas, the world's 6th largest economy, has been on the verge of returning to being the independent nation it once was. Because membership in the union is voluntary, the federal government is powerless to stop any state from leaving, but in the case of Texas, a clause allowing them to freely leave the union was built into their constitution when they became a state 100 years ago when skeptics thought it possible that they might want to either rejoin Mexico, or return to being their own country once again. Texas is the only state to have even had their own Navy!
Don't say it can't happen. Governor Rick Perry is a supporter of secession, and is the longest serving Governor in Texas history who was recently re-elected with more than one million votes over his Democrat loon opponent--so the people of Texas are strongly united behind their Republican Governor, their Republican Legislature, and their Republican Congressmen and 2 Republican Senators!
In 1958, Texas Governor Price Daniel re-activated the Texas Navy with the purpose of "assuring the survival of Texas' Naval history, boundaries, water resources, and for the civil defense of Texas."
