Anonymous said...: A RESOLUTION introduced by freshman Alderman Dave DeFronzo, singles out Aldermen Mark Bernacki, owner of Sir Speedy Printing, and Willie Pabon, owner of New Britain Fence.

When the Republicans on the Council suggested expanding the reporting requirements to include those working for non-profits, people who work for the city and spouses of city leaders; the majority Democrats on the Council defeated the addition.

As a result of their action, we can’t help wondering if the RESOLUTION, as passed, is illegal and discriminatory because it targets only two New Britain individuals.; March 11, 2011 at 8:03 AM
Lou Salvio said...: As a Republican member of the NB Common Council, I have spent the better part of the past three years trying to battle the dirty tricks type of politics perpetrated by former Alderman Phil Sherwood, Mike Trueworthy and DTC Chair McNamara. It is reminiscent of the Watergate/Nixon scandal.

It is saddening to see that our two new Democratic aldermen, Sanchez and DeFronzo appear to have been sucked into that sewer of dirty tricks/shenanigans perpetrated by trouble making specialists of the NB DTC and other Democratic officers in City Hall.

While I agree generally with commenters, "Too little, too late" and RTC Chair, Dwight Blint, [Herald on Line, today,Our View, 3/11/11] I say a huge "THANK YOU" to the editorial staff of the Herald on behalf of all Herald Readers that are sick and tired of the New Britain Common Council Democrats that have been pulling tricks like this for the past seven plus years.

I also appreciate the efforts of the few Council Democrats who have, on occasion and with their votes, helped to limit the damage done by the Democratic trouble makers.

I wonder if Terry Gerratana is bothered at all by today's Herald Editorial. Kind of makes her campaign strategy - hatched by Sherwood - TAINTED to say the least. What do you all think?; March 11, 2011 at 1:56 PM
Anonymous said...: I don't think a sleazy radical like Gerrantana cares what underhanded tricks were pulled by Sherwood or anyone else in her campaign.
