The political battle escalated in Hartford Wednesday night 03/20/11 over federal rent subsidies received by Charlie Ortiz, the spouse of Hartford City Mayor Pedro Segarra.
Rep. Kelvin Roldan, D-Hartford, who is exploring a mayoral run against fellow Democrat Mayor Segarra, said he had filed a Freedom of Information Act request for documents concerning Ortiz's dealings with the city through its administration of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 low-income housing program.
But, Segarra's campaign manager, former NB Alderman Phil Sherwood, fired back that Roldan is running "a smoke-and-mirrors campaign. Look at the circle of current political friends he's surrounded himself with, Sherwood said.
Sherwood also claimed Roldan's move Wednesday night was timed to push Mayor Segarra to support paying Perez money the former mayor claims the city owes him for vacation and sick time, Sherwood said.
Spokeswoman Rhonda Siciliano, of HUD's Boston office, said Mayor Segarra had "requested a legal opinion under state ethics law to determine if there is a conflict of interest with his spouse's Section 8 contract with the City of Hartford.
Joe Arpaio would know how to handle this case. This illegal alien would be living in a tent city in 120 degree heat, wearing pink underwear and eating bologna sandwiches for every meal. After serving 90 days, he would then be turned over to ICE for deportation.
I guess that is why violent crime is out of control in New Britain with drive by after drive by while Danbury's crime is decreasing drastically because Mayor Boughton used his police force to round up all these illegal aliens and shipped them out for deportation.
The public loved Mayor Boughton's efforts to rid his city of this plague on society. The only ones who were upset about it were radical left wing loons.
Question: Why or how is it that one who has been here since he was a baby and wants to stay and, one who has probably been treated to many entitlements by the US Government, etc., has not bothered to become a US citizen?
