Mayor Tim Stewart was very correct with his vetoing this felon's re-appointment to the Mattabassett district however, the Democratic leadership of the city council, overrode the veto.

In Today's Hartford Courant article Rep. O'Brien was quoted has stating that he will leave up to the the towns leadership to decide the Mattabassett membership issue.

Wasn't that set by state statue and the responsibility of the legislature?

Is this Rep. vacating his responsibility under the law?

I SENT THIS COMMENT TO THE HERALD ON LINE.

" While New Britain pays most of the operational costs of the MD, Mr. Candelori would give equal representation on the MD Board to Cromwell, Middletown, and Berlin. The only ones to benefit from the new association are the towns other than NB, The Mayor of Berlin (His fledgling firm has received nice contracts from MD), the Law firm of Weber & Carrier (close friends of Candelori).
The people of NB who shoulder most of the costs of MD, lose, big time. If Mr. Candelori wants equal representaion for all participating towns, make all towns involved pay 25% of the operating costs."

To the commenter to the Herald who uses the alias, Shocked & Dismayed. We all welcome Middletown to the MD - that is not the issue. The Congress of the U.S.A. has well over 400 representatives. Each state has a different number of representatives according to population. The states with the largest populations and the darkest color blue get the most attention from Obama.

New Britain pays the largest portion of the bill, regardless of the MD's established flow rate - we deserve greater representation. Case closed. If the other towns want equal representation, then pay 25% of the operational costs.

Much of Berlin, Cromwell and Middletown still have areas that have septic systems. What happens when they have all connected to sewers? Will they want more representation because their bill per capita has increased? Guess!

I thought Berlin was planning on building their own sewer plant to enable them to be free of this nonsense?

I think it is a fair trade if you ask me. Lay off all the teachers and use their former salaries to build Dr. Candelori an empire at the crap plant!

I think it is a much better use of the money than paying a bunch of worthless union teachers.

Either way you are flushing your money down the toilet!

With the recent revelation of the districts board membership passing a resolution limiting the board seats for the original three towns owners to three seats and three additional seats for the city of Middletown.

It is amazing that this action was taken by the board when this action can only be authorized by legislative action.
