New Haven public schools to hire for-profit company to run a city school:

Since unionized teachers ran the schools in New Haven into the ground, perhaps the answer for New Britain is in privatizing the schools the way they are contracting out to a private company to run city schools in New Haven??

Get rid of the slug union teachers and replace them with caring, professional private teachers!

Frank:

As a Common Council liaison to the NB Finance Dept., I attended the Finance Board's budget session when the BOE presented its budget.

Many pertinent questions were asked by BFT members, some of which - according to BFT Chair, Nicholas Mercier - have yet to be answered. The BFT has presented scenarios to the BOE as to how savings could be realized to save programs, e.g., All Day Kindergarten, and others. Apparently, the BOE has chosen to ignore suggestions in favor of promises by some Common Council members to restore funding to the BOE Budget.

New Britain cannot restore funding it doesn't have to the BOE. The City cannot overburden its taxpayers with more taxes on top of the largest tax burden in state history ever levied on state residents.

I am confident that Common Council Republicans will oppose any increase in property taxes for NB.

How about doing like New Haven just did last night and contracting out schools to be run by a private vendor.

No unions.

No worries!
