Subject: Courtesy and respect For the Republican Membership

Alderman Trueworthy:

It is obvious that you and some of the other members of your “caucus” are practicing blatant, callous disregard and disrespect toward the Republican members of the Common Council. You need to be reminded that all 15 members of the Common Council were elected by New Britain voters, not simply Democrats. And, although you act as though it were, the United States of America is not a dictatorship.

Why this note to you? It has come to my attention that you intent to, or have already scheduled a Special Meeting of the Council for Thursday, ?????(5/26) or possibly Friday, 5/27/11. Purpose? Ostensibly, to adopt the 2011/2012 Municipal Budget. While the NB Charter allows the Mayor Pro Tem to do this, once again you show your ignorance and act as though you are the only one that counts. Everyone knows why you are in such a hurry. You also will simply produce the changes in The Mayor’s Proposed Budget that you hope to advance without discussing them with anybody. ?People have lives, Mike and can’t always be at your beck and call. It takes weeks to craft a budget, Mike, yet you would seek to change everything in a matter of hours and by personal fiat. Mike, you need to have your head examined as do all the Council Democrats that act like sheep being led to slaughter.

And Mike, your resolution, #11, re Mattabassett is ridiculous. I doubt if any of the three other towns would agree to the terms as proscribed. If you insist on going through with Res. # 11, I would call the other three towns and request that they oppose it, especially a couple of provisions. This Mattabassett fiasco you propose is simply your blatant disregard for the rest of the “world.” Have you no shame?

As a member of the board of finance, it is disheartening to say the least how this budget process is handled once it reaches the council. Unilateral decisions, exclusive meetings,it is unethical. The members of the board dedicate many volunteer hours from January through March only to watch the council elect treat the process with total dis-respect. Mr. Trueworthy is on an all encompassing power trip in his own mind. It is frightening to think that unilateral decisions being made can and will effect my future and your future financially.
It is negligent for any of us to simply sit back and watch it happen.

The Democrats have no respect.

The municipal election is this November. New Britain voters would do themselves a big favor by voting out all the Democrats on the council.

Democrats should be careful about being so smug about their 11 Council votes; careful they do not violate laws and careful that they not usurp the prerogatives of the Mayor.

regarding the Mattabassett deal for over $100 million in taxpayer money, follow where the money is supposed to go!

I wonder how the public in these other towns would feel about a convicted felon being in charge of all of this?

We will soon find out why the Lib Dems on the Council overrode a mayoral veto to anoint a convicted felon to head the Mattabassett Board, and put him in control of 100 million dollars of taxpayer funds.

If we could change the laws that pay alderpersons $3,500 a year despite their lower than 100 on their IQ score, it could change the damage that John McNamara and his cohort puppets have done to a once proud city.

Do you think that these dummies would put in the time without being paid? Hmm

Good point, if they really care about the city, they could vote to eliminate their salaries and serve for free just like they expect from all the members of the boards & commissions.

Oh, that's right, selfish Democrats are only out for what they can get for themselves!

Would the Common Council be willing to pass a resolution to have all commission members paid an annual salary? After all, many of them are commissioners because of their committment to the city.
