As a member of the New Britain Common Council, I have been frustrated lately by the lack of the ability of all sides to come to any form of compromise on issues that reflect the common good of all citizens. Instead, people on both sides seem satisfied to say, my point of view is the “right” one and I won’t accept anything else. Frankly, I believe this is the wrong approach and I would like it to come to an end. No number of special meetings to clarify or to ask more questions will settle anything. There will always be those that have thought of something that has never been thought of before. There will always be those who feel they speak for the majority but in reality, they are just big mouths making false claims. The time is now to put all these issues to a vote. I will push for settling these issues, Aquinas, Costco, etc., to a vote before the municipal election in November.
Let’s stop the B.S., NOW! I will push for an ultimate decision on each issue, Aquinas, Costco, etc. The CT Attorney General be damned. The AG is just a political player doing what is necessary to ensure future election success. . Let’s decide our own destiny. I will “ask” that all these issues be removed from the table and voted on by the Common Council. No additional meetings and rhetoric will make the issues any more clear. Let’s make the next municipal election free of rancor and “he said, she said” arguments. Do New Britain citizens want another loss of revenue like the $15 million revenue loss debacle of 5 years ago? Do you want an increase in property taxes? Do you want continual erosion of our education process? Put you money where your own mouth is. Don’t listen to those who say they speak for this group or that. Speak for yourself.
For all, don’t think that you just came up with something that has never bee brought up before – nothing is new. Make your decision yourself. Don’t allow an agitator to lead you. Let’s finish these discussions now. Kicking the can down the road does just that - it accomplishes nothing,

PLAN B - is the Plan for the Costco deal at the junction of Route 71 and Route 9 in New Britain; this will allow Costco to utilize the locked in section of land located in the town of Newington CT that will generate property taxes for both New Britain and Newington.
Only one store located on Route 71 in New Britain area can advertise LOW GROCERY PRICES FOR ALL - EXPECT MORE PAY LESS - 5% OFF TODAY & EVERY DAY !
That store is Target and Target is located in the town of New Britain and is not bound by the WestFarms Mall Association rules and regulations that do not allow super markets to be located in the WestFarm Mall complex.

If...if the proposed Plan "B" Costco store is built on land rezoned from residential to commercial use in these two towns -New Britain on Route 71 and section of Newington near Route 9 ; then Costco will operate as independent super market like Target free of West Farms Association rules and regulations, etc.

Costco would be well advised to drop the entire plan before they too find themselves held prisoner behind the iron curtain of Connecticut communism.
Look at what the communists are doing to Boeing with blocking them from moving to North Carolina.
If they build this store, and then decide they want to close it, they just might find themselves being forced by order of the government to keep it open no matter how much money it loses.
Look at what our local communists did to Pratt & Whitney when they tried to move their plant to a business friendly state. They got a federal judge to order them held hostage here in the Communist State.
I have a feeling Costco may soon regret their efforts to open a store in such a hostile communist environment.
We can call their new store "Hotel California."
When an x-Beer Salesman from New Britain got three letters of intent from three down town Hartford stores, he launched the construction plans of West Farms Mall complex adjacent to the I-84 Inter State Highway System.
But, the folks in the surrounding neighborhoods of single family homes in Newington, West Hartford and Farmington launched their counter attack, with two Court Case's against the WestFarms Mall Association, that generated certain controlling conditions on types of business to be located in the Mall complex.
