These Democratic Council members, after hearing members from the public complain about the intended sale of the Saint Thomas Aquinas property to the Community Builders due to the fact that they just don't want the proposed moderate income units in their neighborhood.
So the Democrats failed to take the matter up and off the table where it remains which would realize income for the city from the sale and subsequent property taxes.
However, "RUMORS" have it, from good sources, that they really are encouraging this property to go to an organization who is vying for it " The Friendship Center."
Please in vision the type of tenants that this new plan will bring to the "East Side Neighborhood."

Typical elitist Democrats. We have the votes, so we can do what we want and to hell with what the people in the neighborhood want, they will vote for us anyway no matter what we do, so who cares what they think, let's just ram it down their throats whether they like it or not. Democrats are guaranteed re-election no matter what we do, so screw'em all!
Ellen Perkins Simpson seeks to expand her fiefdom at the expense of all the citizens of New Britain. She wishes to take property that is potentially taxable and add more non-tax generating property to the mix. Tell us Ellen, who will pay to raze the useless buildings - you really don't expect the taxpayers to pony up $500 to 600K for that do you?
All the neighbors down there who are worried that the Community Builders proposal would bring "those people" into the neighborhood, how do you feel about having Frienship Center type folks hanging around your neighborhood?
Think about it you East Side folks, maybe Sue Holt can figure it out for you. She'll make claims about things you've never heard. Another communist plot!
Sounds a lot like the group of radical extremists that are working hard to block that evil box store from coming to town or the other group of socialists who drove the world's largest employer out of the city with one radical protest after another.
Shame on the 5th District Congressman Chris Murphy. Why does he think that we Senior Citizens are too stupid to know that the 2022 Medicare Plan of House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan is not meant for the current Medicare Senior Members.
How about a little integrity, Mr. Murphy when he also dispatch Stephanie Podewell to represent his Congressman"s Office at the New Britain Veterans; Wartime Service Medal Ceremony at Slade Middle School on Friday, June 4, 2011, soliciting the Veterans' vote?
Regarding the subject of integrity, Why is it that Congressman and Lawyer Chris Murphy can't display what he doesn't posses. The same can be said of every other Lib Dem who thinks he represents us Senior Citizens and Wartime Veterans'.
Murphy is nothing more than a radical socialist who will tell you whatever lies he needs to tell in order to get elected so he can continue to push his agenda for turning this country into his apparent vision of a totally socialist country where no one works and everyone lives free off the government. Only problem with his vision is that if no one is left to work or pay taxes, who will pay for all of his socialism?
Margaret Thatcher was right when she said that the problem with socialism is that sooner or later, socialists run out of other people's money to spend.
