Trouble is that O'Brien will bring in all of the rest of the "radical extremists" from all over the state. He will be more difficult to beat. All of us who care about our city and understand the damage O'Brien can do to our way of life should jump on Mark Bernacki's bandwagon.See you at the fundraiser on Saturday.September 14, 2011 10:47 AM

NEW BRITAIN — The continuing controversy over Costco's plans to build a big box store along Route 9 (Hartford Road) could end Wednesday night 09/14/11, if the NB Common Council agrees to a rezoning proposal that would allow the chain to build their store without taking land from A.W. Stanley Park area.Even though the lastest iteration of the project requires a complicated series of land transfers involving the state, the city of NB, the town of Newington and Costco, Mayor Timothy Stewart said he's optimistic about completing biggest economic development initiatives in his eight-year administration. One step is having the state Department of Transportation study whether to sell property near Route 9 that's essential to the project, which city officials hope will create 220 jobs. Also, Costco wants the Council to rezone land in New Britain along Hartford Road to allow retail development. The expansion of the West Farm Mall south- ward over the years into New Britain has led to East- side of Hartford Road being developed as a retail business zone.
With the Stanley Park Land off the table, the Zoning Commitee of 15 New Britain Aldermen voted yes on wednesday night 09/14/11 to rezone golf course land on east side of Hartford Road from residential to business use that will allow Costco to buy about 15 acres of land on the northern end of the golf course for development of the Costco Store.
Show support for the Republicans by attending the picnic at the Quartette Club...bring the family, and your friends!
The Copy Printed Below Was Posted On FACEBOOK / Friends of A.W. Stanley Park- Website.Prior to the zone change vote last night, Ald Bernacki commented that he thought the public misunderstood the zoning process and that the zone change was just the first of several steps to review the Costco project. Sitting there, I thought, this was not about misunderstanding the zone change or the process. It was about understanding how City Hall works. If we had waited for the process, we risked losing the forest. So, what do you think? Did we act prematurely? Should we have waited for the 'process' to play out?
Back to the subject on hand..Mark Bernacki's Mayoral Fund Raiser:Although the weather was a bit on the cool side, the picnic turned out to be a nice one...all who attended met with friends and had a friendly, congenial time. ..good people, good friends! If the attendance is any indication of a successful election turnout, Mark will be our next mayor.

What a laugh1 All they care about is delaying the Costco proposal so that Costco says goodbye to NB.
I will bet you that the Democrats pull their usual shenanigans right after the election so that they send Costco packing. They just don't want it on their record before the election that they drove another business out of New Britain like they did with Walmart and the investor who was going to invest $5 million redeveloping Pinnacle Heights.
MARK: YOUR ARE THE BEST QUALIFIED TO SERVE AS OUR MAYOR.SHOW BIG BERTHA SHE IS BACKING THE WRONG CANDIDATE.
