NEW BRITAIN : The CT State Department of Transportation has begun the process of studying whether to sell property near Near the West Farms Mall on Hartford Road that's essential to the city's hope of attracting a Costco warehouse store and 220 jobs.

Even though the project requires a complicated series of land transfers involving the state, the city, Newington and Costco, New Britain Mayor Timothy Stewart said he's optimistic about completing one of the biggest economic development initiatives in his eight-year administration.

Now that the Friends of AW Stanley Park have had their fears alleviated, one would think they would stop sniping. This is especially true of those living on Leona Lane, e.g., the bilology professor from CCSU. Leona Lane occupies former A.W. Stanley Park land that was taken by the city to buiuld a street at the request of a former, well known NB politico. So much for violating the Stanlet Deed.
