New Britain's park board endorses Costco's new plan. A few residents grumbled, but opposition was way, way down from a couple of months ago.

Apparently, The Herald isn’t/wasn’t interested in last night’s P&R meeting. The P&R Commission unanimously approved the Costco proposal in a very forceful and carefully worded motion that stated, the SGC property is not need now nor likely to be needed for public purposes. Costco officials again explained how “Plan B” would reconfigure The Red Nine at Stanley. Mayor Stewart was present and answered questions about the process going forward.

A few opponents of the Costco proposal who are determined to be “RIGHT”, presented their same questions and made the same outlandish claims that they have made since Day 1 of the proposal. Hence, the carefully worded motion that was approved unanimously.

This whole situation with some of these opponents brings to mind an old film, “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” where one of the inmates (played by Danny DeVito), during a Monopoly game insists that he should be awarded a “hotel” after his turn at play. He keeps insisting, “hotel, hotel, hotel “ even though he is shown to be non deserving. It’s like the Costco opponent that insists that if the City purchases surplus DOT land that is located in Newington, taxes will have to be paid to Newington, or the lady who keeps insisting that her question about the land being "needed for public purposes" hasn't been answered.

Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy unpopular? Why?

Over the course of 2011 we've found that voters in a lot of states wish they could do their Gubernatorial elections from last year over again and pick someone else.

State of Connecticut is no exception but it does represent a twist- it's the first state where we've found serious buyer's remorse about a Democratic Governor.

So, 52% of Connecticut voters say that if they could do it all over they'd vote for Republican Tom Foley, compared to only 41% who would stick with incumbent Dan Malloy.
