Sally Eigenraam, An At Large Common Council Candidate

My name is Sally Eigenraam. Tuesday November 8th is a very important day for voters in the City of New Britain. After eight years of stable tax rates, business growth and an excellent bond rating, your vote to keep New Britain on track during this long economic downturn is imperative. I am asking for your vote for Alderman at Large on Tuesday November 8th. If elected I will listen to my constituents concerns and work to keep our taxes stable while maintaining important

city services. My goals are:

* Maintaining a "business friendly" environment.
* Growing our Grand list, creating new tax revenue.
* Assisting seniors with tax relief.
* Promoting and encouraging open and honest government.
* Encouraging resident involvement in the government process.
* To promote the benefits of The City of New Britain.

As a lifelong resident of New Britain, my love for The City of New Britain and its citizens is my foremost concern. I am proud to be running on the Mark Bernacki Team .

* Assisting seniors with tax relief

That would mean she is in line with the democrats on the Council who have been trying to give old people a tax break.

She lost my vote. Mayor Stewart was correct to veto tax relief for seniors.

Senior tax relief can be structured in a number of ways to both benefit the homeowner while they still reside in their home. Senior citizens on fixed incomes should not have to fear a tax increase. Tax relief can be recovered at the time of the sale or transfer of the property.

I guess the lost voter expects to never need a reduction or cap in their senior years. You are very fortunate.

You tell him Sally, too many seniors are being forced out their homes because they no longer can afford the increasing taxes aimed at taking their money and giving it to people that Democrats believe deserve their money more than they do. The attitude of these Democrats seems to be that you deserve to be punished for having more wealth than someone who has never worked a day in their life.

Tax relief for seniors has been available for many years as it is for veterans and others.

Democrats like Trueworthy and O'Brien have never given the full story.

You can't give relief one and then the next say, "OH, we don't have the money this year."
That's not a plan, it's disaster!
