The Mattabassett District, formed by CT State Legislature in 1961, is a water pollution control facility. that processes wastewater from New Britain, Berlin, Cromwell, Middletown, Newington, Rocky Hill and Farmington.

The city of New Britain, Berlin and Cromwell are currently the only towns with full voting rights in the district.
