O'Brien will resign from his position as a state legislator before Tuesday, and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will then call a special election.

Three Democrats - Sharon Beloin-Saavedra, Rick Lopes and Michael Trueworthy — want the party's endorsement to run for O'Brien's seat, which is in a strongly Democratic district bordering New Britain and Newington. The special election is likely to occur sometime in January, 2012.

It looks like O'Brien is already filling positions with those that did him political favors.

Hartford Attorney John King was named Corporation Counsel. Why not hire a New Britain attorney for example? Also, Rosemary Klotz who is employed at Workforce Development at the New Britain and Bristol CT Works office was chosen as O'Brien's Chief of Staff.

O'Brien also announced the pending appointment of a three-member committee to study the “effectiveness of New Britain City Government"?

Hiring freeze in effect. We have 20-25 opennings on the police force but we are negotation a salary for Klotz. What is wrong with the salary of that position as it is now.\?
