Are you sure that enforcing the parking ban is job related? You had better check with the city attorney before you let one of these officers issue a parking ticket. We wouldn't want one of them to get hurt in the process and then have the city attorney say that it wasn't job related and that the city will fight any effort for the officer to recewive worker's compensation for his injury.
I'll bet if a city welfare worker got a paper cut stuffing welfare checks into the envelopes, this administration would have no problem honoring such a worker's comp claim!
The New Britain Police Union Demands clarification of workers compensation. After the heroic handling the 10 year old problem the Administration screwed up again by advising the officer that he is not covered for his CPR claim which took almost forever for him to obtain a reply. Today's Herald has both the Mayor and Sherwood backtracking their original comments. Hypocritical don't you think?

The cops writing those parking tickets better not get a paper cut, as I am sure according to the radical extremist in the mayor's office, that would not be a work related injury.
Why would you need the streets plowed? Since fewer and fewer people in New Britain actually work and those are the people this administration bends over backwards to cater to, why can't we just leave it there until it melts in the Spring?
Why anyone would park their vehicle in the street during a snowfall or ice storm is beyond me...it doesn't take much for a moving vehicle to slide into a parked car or truck with snow and/or ice on the roads, causing damage to both vehicles. The owners of the parked vehicles deserve a fine for their not so intelligent choice!

What good is the parking ban if the city doesn't plow the streets?
Maybe my street only got 2.99" because the plow hasn't shown in quite a while.
Where's the communication director on this one?
