With an indiscreet resolution introduced by Alderman David DeFronzo at yesterday's common council meeting, banning the sale of park land, which was immediately referred to a council sub-committee for further review.
In spite of public newspaper comments attributed to Phil Sherwood, the mayor's communications director and the mayor himself, noting that the Costco plans to build in the city are "moving forward."
Then why are Sub-committee meetings required to meet to discuss the DeFronzo Park Land resolution if it is not to stop the Costco Deal?

Do you think that a mayor and his communications director, both of whom helped drive Walmart from the city with radical protests in front of their store, would stop at anything to stop another evil rich empire from ever doing business in the city?
I know they are competitors, but you would have thought a company like Costco would have researched the negative experience that drove the world's largest retailer and the world's largest employer to flee this city like a rat jumping off of a sinking ship?
Derwood, and that inconsequential person who the unions stole our election for, are going to chase them across the boarder into business friendly Newington.
It's still amazing how a few politicians were able to drive WalMart out of New Britain, and are now dissuading Costco from town. Too bad there isn't a sure fire way to let these large, successful retailers know how much they are welcome here by the residents.
It's impossible to fathom how these same politicians keep getting re-elected! They seem to want to move New Britain backwards instead of forward.
Hate to break it to you guys..the days of the huge industrial employers are a thing of the past! Wake up and smell the roses!
Another resolution and problem solving exercise by the ignorant common council of NB. DeFronzo's knee jerk reaction to selling of parkland is reminiscient of Jakubowski's games when Lucian wanted to locate the NBMAA into Walnut Hill. The city then passed an ordinance requiring a public hearing before any parkland can be sold off. The right thing to do as was done for the sale of the golf course property. Limiting the city's ability to sell anything considered parkland is pennywise and pund foolish and just another attempt of this immature council member to pander to his environmentalist base of support. Grow up kid your pandering is getting almost as bad as your fathers!
It is easy to understand when you realize that liberals demonize anyone that has wealth and evil rich employers are usually at the top of their list for those deserving punishment. They have a lot of nerve having all that wealth when someone who never worked a day in their life is struggling to survive on whatever the government gives them for free!
