PICKETING CITY HALL???

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

At the council meeting on April 11th, police dispatcher Marie Lausch addressed the council In objection to the mayor’s proposed layoffs of 130 city employees.   Lausch threatened the council and the mayor that if there are any layoffs, Lausch would picket city hall.  Now with the news emerging that the mayor chose to give Sherwood a raise, and with the mayor still stating his intentions to move forward with the layoffs, subject to council approval, while handing out such a huge raise to his personal blooter, the only question remaining is whether Ms. Lausch will have the fortitude to follow through with her plans to picket city hall.

What do you expect when you elect someone who has never run anything in their life and thrust them into what amounts to being the CEO of an organization equivalent to a large corporation? O'Brien's opponent in the last election has been running businesses his entire adult life, but I guess that Ms. Lausch didn't vote for him, so now she gets the leader she no doubt chose.

Well here you have it folks, the city of New Britain being run by a couple of clowns that couldn't find a job in the private sector if their lives depended on it.
And voters let this happen! And Lucian played a hand in tipping it too.

No business experience. No private sector job experience. Background in government supported and organized flow of cash off the backs of the poor and paid for by the class working people through taxation in many forms.

How would you like to be a City of New Britain employee right now? The possible layoff of nearly half of the cities employees! You know community organizers do not earn their bacon off of city employees they earn it off of government funded social grant programs. You won't see those self serving job programs cut.

This city was in pretty good shape considering it's democratic make-up, lower average income demographic and inner city struggles. Only a couple of months with this new administration and straight into the toilet.

Where is all this money coming from, the Mayor says we need to reduce and cut 130 jobs. The residents of New Britain not only property owners but tenants will bear the cost. Landlords will have to evict the trouble makers. Property will stay empty or be put on the market-who will buy in New Britain-and we will be bankrupt and a ghost town.

I wonder how many of these additions to Little Mack's liberal clan have ever held a job in the private sector where all meaningful jobs are created. My guess would be very few.

Wasn't it Bozek who served as a spoiler for Little Mack making it possible for Lopes to win the election?

I hope the people are paying attention to how these Dems treat you when your usefulness is used up!

I'll bet Bozek might feel as used as a prom date who put out on the first night only to be never called again!

Marie Lausch is just a big mouth that won't follow through on anything. All those new DTC members will be endorsing themselves in the next election.

Word is out on the street that Lucian Pawlak will be given the job of City Property Manager because Pelegrino is retiring - nice play Lucian, you were finally able to secure another job for which you are eminently unqualified. Who pimped you this time?

Maybe now Lucien will be able to finally pay his taxes on time?

The responsibilities of the property manager's position should be spread out through mergers and eliminated once Pelegrino retires.

I would hope that Lucien is NOT returning. #1---I think the residents feelings about Lucien were made quite clear in the last election. #2---In Mayor O'Brien's consolidation plan, property management comes under Public Works. Mark Moriarty is the current Director of Public Works and is a very capable, effective, efficient, and a well-versed individual already in this position. It would not be prudent to remove someone of his capabilities and knowledge in and of this area for someone who has none. Also, with the consolidations, there will be plenty of current capable Directors to go around so it also would be prudent to use that pool of candidates to head up your newly constructed six agencies and not lay another one off to fill it with Lucien as a political favor. But, of course, this is New Britain, and if you do not play..........................

Many of you are making sense about eliminating this position to save the money, but you are not taking into account that these radicals simply do not care because it is not their money they are spending.

Robert Curry, Finance Director, was thrown under the bus and is no longer working for the City of New Britain.

The property manager's position handles all city owned property including parking garages, parking revenues, property we rent to others, leases, insurance placement etc. It was Peligrino himself that recommended eliminating the position upon his retirement to save a bunch of cash. Gotta laugh when he said it. LOL

Parking revenues, fines and collection could be houses at the new police department building. I don't see public works managing that area or negotiation of leases, rentals etc.

I hope this administration knows what they are doing.... wondering.
