The Common Council Acts to Audit School Books!
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
This was a proposal introduced by Alderman Larry Harmanowski to Auditing the school books in order to check into the districts payrolls, and look into the outside companies they hire just to change light bulbs.
This is all coming from the very fact that Larry is our State Commissioner Donald DeFronzo's point man.
This is also a direct attempt, with the common council's affirmative vote, to mandate their strong hold over the Board of Education's actions and possibly reducing the effects of its board members.

Frank see my post on the Courant.com facebook page. More baloney from this group of do nothings!
This is the begining of the end of the B.O.E.'s authorithy over the school district. Its' leadership sealed the deal by not exposing Sherwood and O'Brien when the opportunity presented itself. Instead, it chose politics over virtue once too often.
I got an idea!!!Have the Common Council members kick back the salaries that don't earn and pay for their own stupid ideas.
Hermanowki has done some very dumb things as an alderman. This one has to go down as one of the dumbest. The only thing this move will accomplish is to pay back a firm that contributed to O'Brien's campaign. Larry, what is it that you hope to do with whatever information you expect to find ? What a waste of time and taxpayer money.
This Council UNANIMOUSLY - according to the media - supported this stupidity and did it after having heard what O'Brien did to the Public Library and Youth Museum budgets.
This is the worst Mayoral Administration ever and is helped by the most hapless Council ever.
Since the council has absolutely no authority over the board of ed (by state law the BOE is autonomous and can't be subject to the common council's control) what legal authority do they have to pass this seemingly illegal measure?
Sounds like Mayor Sherwood stepped on his little you know what again!
The Lib Dem council can impose anthimg it wants on the B.O.E. as long as the Board's Leadership does nothing to stop it, and The board's leadership has already proven that it won't.
The Board's Leadership's past actions suggest that it values Democratic politics above all else.
If I were on the board I would throw their butts out of the building when they even tried to look at the books.
