Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "NEW BRITAIN POLITICS NEVER CHANGES! Number two":
Important clarification to the following statement: "City Hall Source claims that the 130 Layoffs Will Never Happen as was predicted within our number one posting."
The only source that would know this is the mayor. I doubt you spoke with him. Most importantly, his office NEVER said there WOULD BE 130 layoffs. They said there could be as many as 130.
Moderate comments for this blog.

Mr. Sherwood: I did not have to talk to the mayor since blogging my comments subsequent newspaper articles appeared confirming my source's tip or comment.

Well said Frank, and Phil thanks for confirming it was all a big lie ! Stop playing games at city hall, its rather pathetic of you. Or at least try a scam that we havent seen malloy do yet.
The real issue is that the city appears to be being run by a person that was not elected. The person they thought they elected mayor is apparently a subservient page to a paid professional agitator.
Gov. Malloy wants to take over some of New Britain schools.
Why?

Sent this note to Robert Storace of The NB Herald:
Robert:
Much has been written and said in conversation recently about the Mayor's current reorganization scheme being carried out at City Hall.
Rereading Section 5-4 of the charter; it says, "The Mayor may prepare A REORGANIZATION PLAN (emphasis, quotation marks, underlining, etc., is mine) … which plan may provide for the combining or separating of the duties of each, unless specifically prohibited from making such alteration by the Constitution or the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut. The Common Council, upon receipt of a reorganization plan, shall conduct a public hearing, and following said public hearing may vote to adopt an Ordinance implementing said plan. A two-thirds (2/3) vote of the entire membership shall be required for adoption."
Robert, as far as you know, has this section of the charter been adhered to by the O'Brien/Sherwood Administration? Please write an article in The Herald as to your feelings/ take on this
section of the Charter vis a vis what O'Brien has done so far regarding this subject. Has the Council received a written reorganization plan? Has a public hearing on the plan been held? Has the
Council subsequently adopted such a plan upon completion of the process?

NEW BRITAIN CITY CHARTER
§5-4 Reorganization Plan.
The Mayor may prepare a reorganization plan which provides for the enactment
of an Ordinance to alter the organization of any and all of the departments,
Boards, Commissions or agencies provided for in this Charter, which plan may
provide for the combining or separating of the duties of each, unless specifically
prohibited from making such alteration by the Constitution or the General Statutes
of the State of Connecticut. The Common Council, upon receipt of a
reorganization plan, shall conduct a public hearing, and following said public
hearing, may vote to adopt an Ordinance implementing said plan. A two-thirds
(2/3) vote of the entire membership shall be required for adoption. The Mayor may
recommend amendments or modifications to said Ordinance at any time prior to
adoption by the Common Council45.
The Taxation Problems of California & Connecticut ?
“California,New York and Connecticut heavy on taxation and regulatory.”
“Connecticut continues its rapid decline and it’s getting ugly.”
“Connecticut could be the business-friendly refuge of NYC and New England, but instead taxes and regulates like the crown of Old England.”
“California and Connecticut have state governments that are simply too big, too intrusive and too anti-business.”
“Connecticut has continued to raise taxes and implement additional regulations the opposite of what is required to stimulate growth.
Lowered bond rating raises longer term risk of doing business in the state.”
Lowered bond rating raises longer term risk of doing business in the state.......
SOCIALIST DEMOCRATS WHO HAVE NEVER OWNED A BUSINESS OR EVEN WORKED IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR, BEING EXPECTED TO RUN THE STATE WHEN THEY NEVER RAN ANYTHING SO MUCH AS A HOT DOG CART, SO THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE WHAT IT TAKES TO RUN A BUSINESS, IS THE REAL PROBLEM. IF YOU WANT TO WATCH THIS STATE CRASH AND BURN LIKE THE HINDENBURG, THEN SIMPLY CONTINUE TO ELECT CLUELESS DEMOCRATS TO PUBLIC OFFICE. I AM CONVINCED THAT THE "D" NEXT TO MOST OF THEIR NAMES STANDS FOR "DUMB"
Mayor Sherwood and his lackey errand boy O'Brien are not going to like most of these comments!
Democrats are the party of welfare checks and food stamps while Republicans are the party of property ownership and pay checks!
H.B.5024 allowing for election day voter registrarion with no I.D. required is the most sinister bill the Lib Dems have ever proposed.
Any person who believes in free and fair elections must oppose it.
Mayor O'Brien is attempting to change the make up of the city agencies without a public hearing.
Did Sherwood say it can be done without a hearing?

....There is no question about evaluating performance of department heads or any other employee. The real motive behind Trueworthy's and also that of O'Brien/Sherwood is to force people to join unions. Everyone knows that O'Brien, Sherwood , Trueworthy and the liberal Working Families Party are all union lackeys.
All are supporters of Chris Donovan who also pushes the union sponsored state-run healthcare system that NB Democrats leaders are trying to foist on the City. Keep Watching! By the way, look at your Council makeup ... who among them is capable or qualified to evaluate anybody much less trained and educated professionals.
O'Brien's reorganization plan is already in violation of Section 15-4 of the NB Charter as would be forcing department heads to unionize. Right now, according to our Charter, Directors and department heads serve with the approval of the Mayor. I guess that begs the question, would you trust an evaluation of your performance to anyone in the current Mayor's Office?
I've heard that Bob Curry - Finance Director on administrative leave - has hired an attorney. That didn't take long!
Good news, I hope he files a lawsuit against Mayor Sherwood and his little lackey!
Since Mayor O'Brien's reorganization plan is already in violation of Section 5-4 of the NB Charter, he would now be forcing Directors & Department Heads to unionize.

Boy! What a novel idea! This is a Trojan Horse to open the NB City charter with a Charter Revision Commission so that they can give the mayor more power and a four year term!
The current understanding of the department head rule, being non-union is that they are considered at will employees that can be fired for cause at any time with no union protections. So putting these "new" department heads into a union would virtually give them lifetime employment! The only way to get rid of bad department heads is to make deals with them even if they are not in a union. And that is even if annual performance evaluations are done!
What they really want is to allow the mayor of four years to be able to pick their leaders when an administration changes. The problem is there will be no more competent people left in town to fill the positions!
What competent people are there in town now?
