If this good plan is not successful here it will be because we keep electing dumb people with no vision to serve on the Common Council.
Their comments make it sound like they are more concerned with the $75 fine for these poor people than the fact that these people do not care if their kids are in school.
We will be stuck paying entitlements for all of these drop outs.
Are they worried about getting votes? People who don't care about their kids usually do not vote.
This program will never see the light of day in New Britain. After Storace (of The Herald) quoted the ever "brilliant" comments of Council members in Tuesday's Herald, that's it, the idea will go no further.
"We need to study it more, we need more information", etc., etc. The Herald did its part, the Council pushed it off to the side and O'Brien said his usual nothing.
During the school year, you can see high school students from NBHS walking South toward Berlin to go to Burger King or McDonald's; up South Main St. toward New Britain center. Also, it's not uncommon to see school age kids at supermarkets or Walmart with parents.
Read the comments from NBHS students in Tuesday's Herald, they tell you what is really going on; no further study by the Council is necessary, just action.
