I keep reading the statement from the Republicans about how this 5% would simply be passed on to the tenants in higher rent, but the Republicans are missing the entire issue about this attempt at redistribution of the income of these perceived rich property owners.
If I have been reading everything correctly, the regulations for the new fair rent commission strictly prohibit the calculation of any city taxes fees or fines in the calculation of the rent that they will allow you to charge--including the mayor's new attempt to seize 5% of your annual income.
It is clear that the intent is for these property owners to be forced to pay this 5% out of their own personal funds. This means that the full intent this resolution is clearly to take 5% of your income and redistribute it to people that the city leaders believe deserve your money more than you do by taxing you evil rich apartment house owners and dolling it out in expanded free services to the people who don't pay any taxes.
After all, they deserve your money more than you do simply for being born.
The next time anybody hears a coherent thought or idea come from the mouths of Trueworthy and Magnuszewski will be the first time.
Mike T. tries as usual to use fictitious statistics and fuzzy math to make the "landlord fee" palatable.
As for Eva M., look up the word incoherent in the dictionary and you will find her photo as a definition. An additional tax on landlords? Just what NB property owners need ! Weddings in the Rose Garden Gazebo ? Complete with alcohol consumption, etc. ? Maybe she's only thinking of the ceremony; in any case, when did renting park property become fashionable ?
How do they get away w/including taxes & fees in the budget that aren't even law? That should be illegal.
There's absolutely NO way I can pass along anything to my tenants, they'll just move to cheaper apartments or just stop paying me when they can't afford it.

I am convinced that the "M" in Eva M. stands for moron. If she is not the biggest of the dumbbells on the council, she sure is in the running for first place!
Isn't it about time for the taxpaying public to wake up from their slumber?
They bitch moan and complain about all these new massive taxes and fees they are going to have to pay out of their own pockets, but election after election they keep voting for the same Democrats that seek to severely punish them for being successful enough to own property. Now they are going to be expected to give their rental properties away at a loss because "people have a right" to some of their property. You owe them some of your money just because they were born and you have more than they do--even if they never worked a day in their lives.
The only solution is a change in leadership of the council and of course the mayor's office. I can't count all the stupidity I have read about from the council under Trueworthy's so-called leadership, but the bottom line is that if he doesn't get re-elected then he can't be the leader of anything anymore.
Come election time next year will you all remember how evil these Democrats perceive you as, simply because you do work and pay taxes, or will it be the same old, same old, just vote for anyone with a "D" next to their name no matter how much of your personal wealth that person stands for seizing and redistributing to people he/she believes deserve your hard earned money more than you do?
Are you going to wake up from your slumber or will it just be more of the same recurring nightmare.
