Park & Recreation Commission Approvals.

During their recent meeting the park Commission has approved Costco's original plan commonly known as Plan "A" , which included the tunneling underneath the road way in order for the golfers to play the additional three or four golf holes. Plan "B" was given up by the Costco representatives due to the impossible task of their obtaining the wet lands approval from the DOT state agency.

Is Mayor Sherwood going to replace all the board members that voted to approve the Costco plan change in order to end their building plans in New Britain?

Who Or Whom Killed the Costco Deal?

At the recent Democratic Convention one of the business speaker was the Chief Executive Officer of Costco who related how Costco was established and how Costco created good paying jobs with many benefits for their employees.

But, when the Stanley Park folks fight surfaced against Costco - Rep. Timothy O'Brien wanted to scrap Mayor Timothy Stewart's Costco deal, since Costco is a store that needs approval from local and state agencies, including Board of finance and Taxation and Parks and Recreation.

On the state level, it needs the approval of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection in respect to the wetlands issues that now have killed the "Plan B" concept for the original "Plan A".

Approval for Costco is required from the Army Corps of Engineers because the state receives national highway funding for Route 9.

The real estate consultant for Costco, Mr. Joe Montesano, said that Costco would address the complicating issues of traffic and the widening of roads in the area, etc.

AT THE RECENT DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION ONE OF THE BUSINESS SPEAKERS WAS THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF COSTO, WHO SPOKEN OF HOW COSTCO WAS ESTABLISHED AND HOW COSTCO IS NON-UNION AND CREATED GOOD PAYING JOBS WITH MANY BENEFITS FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES.

We recall when in-step with the Stanley Park folks the the trio of three - NB Alderman At Large, Michael Trueworthy, Alderwoman At Large Eva Magnuszewsi and Alderman At Large David DeFronzo voted against the Costco plan.

The trio of three Common Council members are out of step with the recent comments rendered by Costco president at the Democratic National Convention of how Costco generates good paying jobs $$$$$$$.

Costco co-founder and former CEO Jim Sinegal spoke at the Democratic National Convention on topic of Costco jobs. The Seattle-based Costco warehouse store, has always been a bit unconventional in its 29-year history as a big box retailer listed as the third-largest U.S. retailer.

Jim Sinegal, who retired as CEO of Costco in January 2012, was one of convention speaker's at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. The business leader spoke on the issue of Costco job growth and the U.S. economy.

The Democratic National convention ran September 4-6 in Charlotte, North Carolina and the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida from August 27-30.
