State Commissioner and Former New Britain Mayor Spins Democratic Fees

The negative spin by Democrats re this issue goes on and on. In a letter to the editor today, Herald 11/20/12, [ Don DeFronzo defends fee on rental property ] former Mayor Don DeFronzo spins this issue falsely; he writes, " Earlier this year, Republican leaders on the City Council proposed a large across the board mill rate increase that would hit middle income home owners and retired seniors on fixed incomes the hardest." This is patently not true and is also disingenuous. The proposed increase was 1.5 mills. DeFronzo said further, " Majority Democrats rejected this in favor of the more targeted fee on for-profit out-of-town Landlords." Since the ordinance targets any landlord (or family member) not living in their rental property, the ordinance and associated fees targets them also. Yet another false claim by the former Mayor.

It's bad enough that O'Brien/Sherwood or their plants do this kind of spinning but it is less than genuine that a former mayor and high level state official takes part.

DeFronzo is clearly just continuing to push his radical left wing agenda of punishing those evil rich landlords through redistribution of their income to people who deserve their money more than they do.

Defronzo is nothing more the a liberal, union pushing, Dem that thinks his way is the only way. And that the law doesnt apply to him. NO'Brien 2013

How much are the taxpayers of CT paying this guy?

In addition to his salary, doesn't he receive one or more taxpayer funded pensions also?

While the DeFronzos agree to selectively taxing landlords and tenants remarkably they continue to be the opposition to Costco which will provide desperately needed jobs for the unemployed and tax revenue to our cash strapped city.

Not surprising from the king of the NB Socialist Party! This is the same guy who supported Dannels largest tax increase in the states history also. When he was mayor he did nothing more than reward his union friends and did nothing to stop the escalating pension fiasco in the Police and Fire departments. Can anyone say hypocrite??
