The Democratic Alderman after Hearing from their party chairman supporting the revised Landlord fees with many landlord speakers pleading to table this issue for after the holidays.
Many that spoke indicated that this action will drive investors out of the city in fact one investor stated he owns multiple three family units that he purchase and brought them up to code has stopped looking for more properties in town but going to nearby Plainville for his new investments.
I think Mr. Steve Amato, A local Store Owner, summed it up best with his stating " he has no stake in the issue calling it underhanded to have a meeting before Christmas with the problem being money and we are calling it fees instead of taxes."
Alderman Giantonio attempted to have the issue tabled but the despot Democratic members voted his motion down.
In Short this new plan that was agreed with only two landlords winds up charging the large owners less in fees that and owner that owns three families.
The Mayor claimed that we have listen to hundreds of landlords--- being only two as a matter of public record made by the speakers at last night's fiasco.

Impressive victory for Team O'Brien regardless of our opinions of him. A statewide coalition of (and my understanding national orgs like AFP) threw everything they had at this and lost. They couldn't even peel off a single vote after a barrage of advertising, phone calls, letters to the editor and the evolution of the City Journal (AKA Assassination Journal).
All we have left now that others have packed up and left is Nick the Creep Mercier and Blight Dwint.
It is funny to read the first comment, as it comes from a person in the mayors office. And how is it an "impressive victory" when only council members vote, and the majority are dem's being told how to vote by the party ? There is no victory here, only a council vote made by rubber stamps. Nov can not come soon enough.
I would hardly describe getting a bunch of mindless puppets to vote however they are ordered to as a victory, especially when you are describing a bunch that probably doesn't even know which way is up.
The funny thing is that the first anonymous thinks that AFP, the CPOA, the CTPOA, and people like Frank Macarone are "packing up" and that this fight is over.
As Bob DeCosmo stated last night, the organizations involved in this didn't try to mobilize members last night. We had far to much respect for the value of family time during the holiday season, something the administration lacked.
My guess is the first Anonymous is Chris Calabrese. He seems to have some inexplicable man crush on me. I'm not quite so sure why I have him so upset. Perhaps it because I'm not impressed or intimidated by his threats. Who knows.
Bobble heads united.
just don't drop the soap!
More is never enough for these people.
Robin, since you don't have a comment section on your website, I will post my comments here where I expect hundreds or even thousands of people will read them.
Keep up the good work, you are returning journalism to the way I remember it where instead of pushing a personal agenda, you simply report the news without the usual liberal spin. We all know you are a lifelong Democrat and probably left leaning in your personal beliefs, but you have demonstrated your ability to put your personal politics aside in pursuit of the truth wherever it may lead--the sign of a true professional. You always leave me looking forward to the next edition of your paper.
For those of you who may not know what I am responding to, here is Robin's statement posted in the City Journal:
"I have received so many great emails, letters and phone calls this week in support of the paper. There have also been no less than a dozen people who stopped me at events and on the street to thank me for what I am doing for this City. You are all my inspiration. I know many of you can’t speak up for fear of retaliation from City Hall, but I want to say thank you.
The response I have received is tremendous. I will not let anything stop me. Little digs like “you read that slop?” from a certain member of the mayor’s office to a City Hall employee only reminds me how scared people are of us revealing the truth. Intimidation tactics do not work and you (you know who you are) do not need to follow a step behind us and watch our every move at meetings. We are not doing anything inappropriate and will not let your tactics stop us. If anything, we may be forced to file a complaint for harassment. I’m sure most of you can guess who that person from the mayor’s office is."
Thank you Robin for telling the real story of what's happening to this once great city. These people have in a very short time reduced our reputation to lower than Bridgeport throughout this state. Lets see how resilient the people of this city really are. Don't stand for this type of chicanery. Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to further their own personal agendas is downright criminal! This is just another nail in their political coffin folks! Mark my words!
