FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
When first elected, our Honorable Mayor O'Brien declared a freeze on hiring, a promise that possibly lasted overnight--if that long. Almost immediately he hired Phil Sherwood and Ms. Rosemary Klotz and it didn't stop there. Soon after, he hired Mrs. Brown paying her with what the mayor told everyone were federal funds and we all now know the truth that the Mayor really used city funds to pay Mrs. Brown without advising the Board of Aldermen of his actions.
His honor also claimed to have settled the landlord issue by meeting with what he claimed was all the landlords when in reality he only met with two landlords and agreed to a lower rental fee plan only for the larger complexes. The misinformation continued to flow out of city hall with Mr. Sherwood alluding to the Court injunction now "has become meaningless" because just 2 landlords agreed to their new fee structure.
His honor made a recent media announcement declaring a new need to hire a second blight enforcement officer claiming the need to address this problem is real despite his alleged hiring freeze and with his administration in some sort of fantasy world denying that the pending court injunction still exists.
The majority of the city's landlords should be outraged with this administration's fabrications as they go along to suit or satisfy the last person they are privileged to talk with, or the last person who would even bother to waste their time listening to their latest propaganda. Of course to continually use the nonexistent blight issue to punish the majority of our city's landlords who do maintain their properties in a better condition than the city even requires is nothing more than another socialist attempt at taxing what this administration perceives as the rich so that they can redistribute more of your money to people they believe deserve your money more than you do. The track record of this administration has been clearly to do whatever they can to oppose or punish anyone who is successful whether it be a business owner or apartment owner.
All you need for a reminder is to look at the empty shopping center that used to house Walmart and remember that the people now running city hall are some of the same ones who organized radical protests in front of their business until Walmart picked up and moved out of the city—taking the tax revenue they once generated for the city and their more than 150 jobs with them. Perhaps among the weeds growing out of the parking lot of this building (that has remained vacant ever since Walmart fled) the city should erect a monument to the stupidity of O’Brien and Sherwood?

You forgot about how some of these same people are using their antics to do anything in their power to stop Costco from coming here!
If we don't continually identify Sherwood, O'Brien and the Lib Dem Council Members as Democrats. then many of those uninformed Democratic voters, who vote the party line, will vote for them again.
There is a Walmart Supercenter currently under construction in East Windsor which will employ over 300 and Manchester has just approved another Supercenter that is expected to open by next Spring. Also a new Walmart grocery store will open next month in West Hartford. New Britain is probably the last place on earth that Walmart would ever consider building, and you all know who you have to thank for such a distinguished designation, don't you?
Liberalism is a mental disease that is easily cured by inserting a brain into the empty cranial cavity.
Could that be why they hired Occhiogrosso? To lobby for the state funding for the monument to their stupidity?
