You didn't mention that Democrats in the legislature have proposed a bill that would outlaw the hotspot fees, so even his own parry is turning on this brain dead nut job.
Nicholas Mercier, a former Board of Finance Chairman & current President of the Citizens Property Owners Association (CPOA), stated that taxes would likely decrease for residential NB property owners. He also stated that anyone who did not see a significant decrease in property value will be seeing a definite INCREASE in their taxes. There will also be an INCREASE on motor vehicle taxes that will offset any savings.
And by using one time revenues such as sale of property, bond swaps, or even grants to fund a large portion of the municipal budget is not sustainable. You eventually run out of assets, borrowing power, or grant funding. This year's budget has a $16M hole in the revenue side because Mayor O'Brien attempted to balance his budget on hopes and dreams. That is going to come to bite us NB taxpayers in month of June.
That's why Welfare should be cut immediately.
