How Did Public Participation Speakers Know of the HRA Issue?

Are you sick of having your tax money paid to cronies of Mayor O’Brien? Are you sick of having the City bilked of $ hundreds of thousands of tax dollars by political operatives? Are you sick of seeing campaign contributions in the tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions going to O’Brien from well known political contributors. Then, you must be sick of the O’Brien administration. Read the list of contributors in the Herald from O’Brien’s recent campaign report then, read the following letter. All you had to do was watch the first few minutes of Wednesday’s Council meeting to understand.

During public participation, citizen, Alton Brooks spoke in favor of giving the HRA of NB (former Benjamin Franklin Elem. School) an exemption to paying property taxes. How could he know to speak on the issue since it would not be put on the agenda until later in the meeting? HRA owes the City of $220,707.98 as of 4/11/13. His reasoning was that it is a school. Really? Is it a NB School? NO! Is it a Charter School? NO! Is it State Magnet School? NO!

When the City sold the former Benjamin Franklin School to HRA the deed reported that the property would be exempt from property taxes. JUST THAT BUILDING! HRA built a huge addition to the property; this addition was not exempt and was agreed to by the principals!

Now, HRA cries foul and hires private Attorney, Michael Carrier to mediate the issue, COMPLETELY BYPASSING ALL CITY ATTORNEYS IN THE CORPORATION COUNSEL’S OFFICE, A CITY OFFICE THAT IS COSTING TAXPAYERS WELL OVER $ HALF A MILLION TO MAINTAIN. Again, check the contributions list. See who contributed how much !

In addition, at the most recent Council meeting, the Council agreed to extend the contract of David Pudlin (so far paid over $30 thousand) for another year for what? As of this date, Pudlin has produced nothing to show for his "work." And all the sheep voted for it, in particular, Alderwoman Bielinski and Alderman Trueworthy.

And how about O’Brien having an Executive Aide, Michael Baczewski (out of towner),page 6, Herald, 4/25/13 being paid by taxpayers to do what, change O’Brien’s diapers? How much help does O’Brien need?

Apparently Brooks was speaking on a subject he is an authority on--not paying taxes:

FrankSmithSaysNB 9/17/2012):

"Well known City resident Alton Brooks will now have the distinction of having a street named after him. The new street in Pinnacle Business Park will be named Alton Brooks Way:

But Mr. Brooks neglected to pay his current taxes. "

In 2011 Alton Brooks was recognized by the state African-American Affairs Commission for his lifetime achievement in civil rights and community service and by the city of NB with the dedication of Alton Brooks Way Street off Slater Road, will also receive the John Wentworth Good Sport Award at Aqua Turf dinner that will held on April 28th. Brooks, a founding director of the city’s Human Services Agency, is a longtime basketball coach and mentor to NB youths.

Democrats don't pay taxes, only Republicans do to support all their welfare.

I'm just figuring this out now....the MORE tax you owe, the BIGGER the reward.....as long as you're connected to Tim O'Brien, that is.

Owe $300? Get a street named after you.

Owe $50,000.00? Get a new retail space in the new police station!

I wonder what owing $100,000.00 wins??

Lou asks: "Are you sick of having your tax money paid to cronies of Mayor O’Brien?" What if you are one of the more than 50% of the population that pays no taxes ever, not one thin dime? Why should you care how the money is spent if you are one of the liberals on a free ride?

Let me make something very clear, If you are a renter and pay rent you are paying your share of taxes.
The owner pays his taxes with the nibey he collects.

HRA has a legal agreement to pay taxes. I as a homeower never signed a legal agreement to pay taxes therefore do I have to pay them?

Comments by former Mayor Stewart....

Mr.O'Brien...Your rhetoric knows no bounds, take a drive down Myrtle Street and tell me what you see. Or how about the construction on Slater Road, or West Main Street or better yet how about the structure that occupies the corner of Main and Chestnut none of which was your administrations doing!

Your continued focus on your personal hatred has caused you to get nothing done in the city! That is except for creating controversial policies that have done nothing more than turn people away from investing in the city of New Britain.

To all citizens of NB who are insulted by O'Briens recent comments of "Years of No Progress"...Just ask the Mayor to define exactly why he would say that to the NB public. What is his definition of progress?

We are insulted by his shameful attack on the people who have contributed and volunteered many thousands of hours of their valuable time to the City. Time which has resulted in sustainable progress for the city of New Britain.

Progress that we have seen comes from strong leadership and hard work by many. This comment (Years of No Progress) by O'Brien deserves a public apology to all its citizens.

But what about all the people who don't pay any rent because the government (taxpayers) pay it for them? Who pays their taxes since they live totally free off the government?

The Obama administration in Washington D.C. has purged the files and training materials of all federal law enforcement, intelligence, homeland security, and defense agencies of certain information that might “offend” the Islamists.

It is time to get rid of all of
the present Common Council Members
who continually award money to
their cronies eg Pudlin, Occhiogrosso
as consultants. Forgive taxes owed by
HRA and Avner and Mr. Brooks and place
the burden onto the taxpayers to make up the difference
up the difference.
The CPOA (watch dogs on taxes) should
file a law suit against the city for violating a signed contract between the City and HRA.

The welfare state now matches lax immigration policy in enabling terrorism. And in the case of suspected terrorists in the Tsarnaev family it took 10 years for the public to find out.

Easy for bombers to learn their terrorism trade when the families that house them can depend on monthly social assistance checks supplemented by food stamps in the State of Massachusetts.

We also wonder if the Tsarnaev boys or their parents also had free Obama cell phones?

Members of broad coalition behind the proposal to give CT Drivers Licenses to illegal aliens, include Senate Majority Leader Martin Looney, House Speaker Brendan Sharkey, religious leaders and mayors, say they aren’t giving up hope that a bill will be passed in the 2013 legislative session.

“It is about common sense,” New Britain Mayor Tim O’Brien said at a press conference at the State Capitol in Hartford. Undocumented immigrants are already driving in the state, even though they lack training, licenses and insurance. But because they fear being deported, they are more likely to flee after an accident. “It doesn’t make sense for us to have a system of laws that encourage people to leave the scene of a auto accident, O’Brien said.

They detonated the IED's with their "free' Obama cell phones.

Yeah the CPOA should file a complaint on this hRA fiasco in the name of residents.
And is it me or did the Herald leave out a lot of stuff in their article?

Maybe they even got some of those free cars that Duval Patrick used $4 billion in federal stimulus money to buy for every person in Massachusetts on welfare, so you paid for the free cars in Massachusetts!

I guess Margaret Thatcher was right, these socialists are running out of other people's money to spend.
