HUD officials told the New Britain City Journal that this is not a HUD investigation, but rather a normal HUD review process.
“We just received the documents from former Mayor Tim Stewart, so we are going to review them along with information that had been provided by the City to us,” said HUD spokesperson Rhonda Sciliano.
We did nothing illegal, Stewart said. It was approved at meeting on April 2, 2009 by the Commission on Community and Neighborhood Development (CCND). The bottom line is that this was a business development loan that CCND approved, Stewart also reported that HUD investigation was initiated by Mayor Timothy O;Brien office and not by HUD,
