I am not the "only" person who is questioning the Mayor's budget proposal, a Work of Fiction. Anyone, especially people with a background in finance, who look at the budget proposed by the Mayor sees the apparent flaws in his revenue projects. I am not against making investments in education, public safety, and infrastructure. In fact, as a community we need to have important discussions about what investments we need, and what investments we can afford.

But before we have that discussion we need to have a budget that doesn't contain fictitious revenue projections, so we have a budget that is based on facts and reality, not promises and dreams.

Again, how can we expect to see five times as much money come in from Snow Ban towing, three times as much from pistol permits, over three times as much from building, plumbing, and electrical permits, or a 700% increase in revenue from "Special Events".

Every member of the government with whom I have spoken has called these projections unrealistic, and the Mayor has offered no defense for these increases.; April 22, 2013 at 8:24 AM

The neighborhood concept of voting districts for the Common Council members created by former Alderman Tim O'Brien has not served us well.
