Since the fee for a marriage license in Connecticut is set by state law at $30, I am trying to figure out how the budget could rely on a $4,000 increase from those fees unless the mayor plans to somehow entice that many more people to marry in New Britain?
There is some talk at the state level of raising certain fees. However they haven't, to my knowledge, been talking about doubling them, so the Mayor's numbers are still rather optimistic.
"Do not look behind the curtain! Pay no attention to that man behind it!"
Tim O'Brien is going to cause New Britain's taxes to skyrocket because of this nonsense.
I'm sure he's counting on not being around then though - he'll probably be in a cushy state level position as a direct result of the pay off he made to Roy Occhiogrosso with the $100,000.00 from the taxpayers of the very city he's setting about saddling with huge increases in interest bearing debt.
