" This article about the Berkowitz building says absolutely nothing to the people of New Britain about what the costs may be to NB Taxpayers. An old photograph and pie in the sky platitudes offered by O'Brien serve only as reelection fodder. And of course, the O'brien/Sherwood duo has already assembled their cadre of sycophants and previous administration blamers to help in selling the city another set of "new clothes." What do we know about Albemarle Equities? From where will the financing come? What incentives will be offered to Albemarle to do the "facelift?" Who will pay for it. History tells NB that the infrastructure including all mechanical and utilities system are completely shot. Would any self respecting Building Department in any city ever approve this endeavor?
Had O'Brien's "blight laws" and the associated fines been paid, the previous owners would have owed the city several $hundreds of thousands in back taxes and fines. Instead of making any effort to collect those monies, O'Brien pays the previous owners $22 thousand dollars for the property - "such a deal?" And, Alderman Carlozzi is ecstatic because he thinks the facade can be saved? Why? I respect Carlozzi but what this building needs a a couple of boxes of explosives.
Where do we go from here? Nowhere except to give the taxpayers another headache. Taxpayers need to see a complete plan for this project, not simply what will be presented to a partisan Planning and Zoning Committee of the Council. The taxpayers should not be placed on the hook for even a dime out of their pockets. O'Brien, haven't you fleeced the taxpayers enough?
What has O'Brien done to replace Walmart in the building that has been sitting empty on Farmington Avenue since he joined other radical extremists in protests in front of their store that ultimately led to their driving Walmart out of the city?

Hey Sherwood, how many Puerto Rican managers does the New Britain Walmart store have now?
