Greg Gerratana was selected to run for tax collector:
In 2009, when state Rep. Timothy O’Brien was challenging Stewart for the mayor’s office, Gerratana’s son, Greg, was suspended without pay from his state job for a week after posting derogatory comments about Stewart on the New Britain Herald’s website from his state computer. At the time, Greg Gerratana worked as O’Brien’s legislative aide. He was reassigned by House Speaker Chris Donovan following the incident and still works for the General Assembly.
Sunday, September 20, 2009 Admitted Serial Poster Greg Gerratana Pulls Nomination as New Britain Tax Collector, But is He Just the Fallboy? Swine in New Britski...Assistant to Mayoral Candidate Tim O'Brien is Out...Was He the Pawn for Campaign Elders?
The New Britain Herald will be reporting in tomorrow's edition (Sept. 21) that Greg Gerratana, the person who admitted to posting below-the-belt comments on the Herald's web site about Mayor Tim Stewart, is pulling his candidacy as the city's Democratic nominee for Tax Collector.
This comes after a story by CTNewsJunkie.com saying Rep. Tim O'Brien, candidate for mayor of New Britain, called for Gerratana to resign from his ticket:
“I am personally disappointed in Greg Gerratana’s action in writing personal attacks against another official, and I’m sorry that he did,” O’Brien said. “It was inexcusable."
O'Brien also asked Speaker of the House Chris Donovan to see that Gerratana would be reassigned as his legislative assistant up at the Capitol. Last week Gerratana was serving a one week suspension from his aide duties after finally choosing to say he was responsible. An examination by the Herald found that computers from the state Capitol where breeding grounds for the online vitriol. It was soon speculated by blogs that the people responsible were either Gerratana or Richard Lopes, an aide to Sen. Don Defronzo, D-New Britain, and campaign manager for O'Brien's run at NB mayor. Lopes already has a history of trying to pull stupid fourth-grade pranks like messing up a Capitol employee's desk back in 2007.
But I don't think the story ends here, and neither do other people I've talked to who have kept close to the New Britain political scene. According to one person, right before the comment-gate thing broke, Greg Gerratana sat down with a Herald reporter for a recorded 53 minute interview and denied over and over that he was the one who made the comments. The next day, Gerratana weirdly admitted to the House Democratic Caucus that he was in fact behind the online postings.
This begs some speculation: Was Gerratana asked to take the fall for perhaps Lopes, O'Brien's campaign manager? Did John McNamara, party chair of the New Britain Democrats force the kid to take one for the team? Why else would he change his story after denying it on the record? Did a meeting take place between the party elders and Gerratana to discuss how they should handle the mess? There was no single individual officially pinned in this comment-gate thing, just Gerratana's own "admission." Maybe the O'Brien team wanted to find someone expendable since it was already general wisdom that someone from their camp was going to get screwed anyway. Why not it be the rookie? My inclination is that the party wanted to ultimately protect Lopes, who has a track record of doing shiesty things for the sake of maintaining a political life.
Finally, what did O'Brien know and what are the implications?

Back in October 2009, a member of the Gerratana family, Gregory, lost his job as an aide up in the Capitol for being stupid enough to post not-so-funny remarks about the Mayor of New Britain’s family as he was running for re-election.
Now, Gregory’s mom, Terry, is the Democratic nominee to run against Stewart for the state’s 6th District Senate seat. In honor of Greg’s exploits, we’re gonna lower the bar even more than he did.

NEW BRITAIN — Greg Gerratana, admitted online serial commenter, allegedly started talking shit again this week, just in time for his mom’s run for the 6th District Senate seat, multiple unconfirmed sources told the DEBASER today.
Gerratana, taking breaks between eating funfetti cupcakes, reportedly told the New Britain Herald that “I’m a good person," and that his mom is “a good candidate."
Both statements, independently investigated by the DEBASER, have been found to be lies.
When asked about if he posted comments condemning the Stewart family, Gerratana adamantly denied it to a reporter, but then confessed to his superiors, Richard Lopes and Tim O’Brien, other New Britain Democrats who may have had successful careers as gay pornstars in the 90s.
After some shallow digging, the DEBASER has come to learn that Gerratana, age 130, has never lived in New Britain despite running for office in the city. Instead, he resides from Berlin, a shithole swamp where everyone thinks they are rich and important with their two-car garages and mini vans. It is being reported by the DEBASER that Gerratana has never won an election in real life, including president of the Pog Collecting group in 1995.
Actually, the last paragraph is not true. Gerratana was not living in New Britain when he won New Britain alderman, sources tell the DEBASER.

how can a follower lead?
in this photo, are you trying to show the sweat dripping from his slimy palms?
Narcissist Pete Spano does it again. He finds a way to get himself photographed at any political event he attends. What drive, what tenacity.
If he were any closer to O'Brien's rear end as shown in the photo, he would be able to worn O'Brien 20 minutes before he farts.
The tax increases that just hit everyone's mailboxes this month will hang around O'Brien's neck like an albatross right up to the election.
