There will be hundreds of thousands more folks who will move out of the state of Connecticut at the first opportunity. We will witness a great exodus once the housing market recovers and more folks will be able to sell their homes especially those who are "underwater" now. The poor housing market is all that's keeping them here! The fact that so many people are moving to Taxachusetts says a lot about taxes in CT (gas alone is 20 cents cheaper there).
And the ridiculous new gun laws will be a bigger factor then many realize as well as the over regulation at all levels of government and CT's business unfriendly atmosphere.
I think if they did a survey on who would leave CT if they could, the numbers would be shocking! "
Once again, some people are trying to divert comment on this article by post completely unrelated comments on your subject.
Mr. Dabrowski told another daily paper that in fact, he applied for this job of "Events Planner or Coordinator" (?) through the NB Office of The Human Resources Agency (HRA) on Clinton St. This is the same Agency for whom the O'Brien led Common Council and the Corporation Counsel's Office deemed it was OK to waive and over $200 ,000 dollar property tax bill . Mr. Dabrowski was going to tun for alderman on the Republican ticket until this plum job came along; now he's a candidate on the Democrat ticket. Question: is Mr. Dabrowski the only person that applied for the job? I guess it's not necessary if the job was already promised as mentioned in the NBCityJournal.
In the meantime, unconnected - politically - citizens of NB have no one to waive their tax bills. And our do-nothing Democrat controlled Council that is supposed to serve the people of NB says, it's OK for NB taxpayers to foot the bill for yet another O'Brien-sponsored pay off.
Is this yet another job selling scandal reminiscxent of the late 1970s? I think the situation calls for another investigation.
Your first two commenters feel it's necessary to comment on population exodus and gun laws. Just more Sherwoodesque chicanery.
How is the anti-business climate created by these liberals that drives businesses and working class people to move out of town not appropriate comments?
If you keep following this socialist agenda in New Britain, your city will be made up of 100% of people getting a free ride off the government and no one will be left to pay for all the free stuff Democrats love so dearly to hand out with other people's money.

HARTFORD — More people are leaving Connecticut for other parts of the United States than are moving here from other states.
The state of CT saw approximately 19,540 more departures than arrivals in 2011, according to the latest census estimates.

Doesn't the mayor have a budget. How can he afford all of these positions.
Why can't the so called community organizer plan ethnic events? What do all of these people do all day at our expense?
Are these all suggestions made by the consultants hired for $100,000 to help O'Brien win??
He must be totally inept.
