NEW BRITAIN’S COMMON COUNCIL FINANCIAL DILEMMA!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

Whether being a Democrat, Republican, Independent or unaffiliated you as a city Alderman must be very concerned with the financial disaster the city’s taxpayers are facing.   Especially, if you were an Alderman who voted for the former administration’s ninety million dollars’ of bonding and burying our city’s financial future.
You now must all come together, as common council members, in supporting Mayor Erin Stewart’s in not moving forward with some of the bonding issues that was passed by the O’Brien Administration.
When Mayor Stewart makes her final decision known to you, as Alderman, and to the general public one can only ask for your support to ending the adverse ‘BONDING DILEMMA” we all face as the city‘s taxpayers.
Unfortunately, the mayor may also have to resort to institute employees’ furloughs in adjusting her proposed budget in order to  correct the city financial direction.

President Obama's Leadership is Questioned!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

President Obama has never taken responsibility for any lack of leadership but to blames former President Bush and whoever else that may come to his mind.

In order to deflect his lack of leadership domestically and abroad he has recently blamed global warming and our the Secretary of State claimed the same posture

This new direction started with the President’s visit to the west where the farmers are experiencing a drought due to lack of rain and or water
With the administration now resorting to blaming “Global Warming” as being the cause of western famers dilemma elaborates the fact the President has a short memory whereby Nancy Pelosi some three years ago stopped the irrigation to the western farmers and wasn’t her that introduced the “OBACARE Legislation”  saying “ We haven’t had time to read it but let’s pass it and read it later.”
We all know the disaster that Obamacare has turned out to be and with our president resorting to blaming “ global warming” has being the culprit is his way to deflect why Democratic candidates are not asking for his support during their upcoming mid-term elections.
Who does our President have to blame, not former President Bush, but Pelosi but he will not by resorting to his global warming stance.
Mr. President Pelosi is your “problem.”

Obamacare Dilemma

Obamacare or whatever other names Washington may wish to call it is directly causing lesser full time jobs in America.    In fact employers are laying off many of their full time employees and replacing them with part time employees to not exceed 29 hours per week in order to not provide the expensive hospital insurance plans that President Obama is placing onto the business industry.
The White House claims that there is no correlation to the affordable care act causing this dilemma to the business industry.
Just ask any business employer is the white house again making false assumptions  like when they promise if you like your insurance you can keep it and your doctor too.

Letter To The Editor: BY Alderman L.Salvio

The Opinion page of the Sunday (2/2/14) Herald carried a column written by Chris Powell of the Journal Inquirer in Manchester. Powell’s article discussed the now abandoned proposal to reform teacher evaluation practices in Connecticut along with standardized testing of students. Standardized test results of students were to become an integral part of the State’s standards for teacher evaluations.

Whew!  I’m glad that idea was stalled. As usual, Powell was right on point with his assertions. He used as beautiful examples of being glad that the process was stalled, two letters that had been written by Connecticut public school teachers, one from “tony” West Hartford and the other from “gritty” Bridgeport. Powell’s major point was that decline in effectiveness of public school education is not that the caliber of teachers has declined but rather, the caliber of students; put another way ,the “tony” West Hartford students are not necessarily smarter than the “gritty“ Bridgeport students, just better prepared, perhaps.

In my opinion, teacher evaluation reform should concentrate on the improvement of instruction and not tie in as a major factor standardized test results of students as an indicator of teacher quality. The students in a teacher’s classes are as varied as snow- flakes as will be the effectiveness of that teacher with each student. Teachers must be skilled in identifying the strengths of their students and also, ways to capitalize on those strengths. Teacher evaluators must be equally skilled in identifying the strengths of all teachers. Evaluators must be able -prepared- to offer suggestions for improvement in areas of instruction as well as praising the strengths of a teacher.

All people learn differently, including teachers.. It’s harmful to judge them on basis of standardized test scores.

Just Three States Short

This is what Mark Levine has been talking about--a constitutional convention by the states to get back to
the laws of the Constitution.

This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you

agree, please pass it on. This is an idea that we

should address.

35 STATES SO FAR.....IT'S GROWING

One message to forward!
Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them.

It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a

Constitutional Convention.

For too long we have been too complacent about the

workings of Congress. Their latest stunt is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that they passed ...

in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical.

We do not have an elite ruling class that is above the law.

I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican,

Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

If each person that receives this will forward it on to

15 people, in three days, most people in The United

States of America will have the message. This is one

proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators, Representatives of Congress; and, Congress shall make

no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives

that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ..."
You are one of my 15 (or more). Please keep this going.
PS: You can forward this message, or copy and paste

it into a new message. We still have that choice!
