Alderman Carlozzi
proposed some very good ideas with his proposing to have the school district
and city consolidating their health plans by having under the same health care plan which would save millions of dollars he
concluded.
He added to
stop paying the city employees with paper checks on a weekly basis but to pay
bi-weekly electronically which would save millions in labor in producing the
paper checks.
He also
added pooling the city vehicles on a sign out and sign in basis which is interfering
with the department heads making and setting their own policies within their
own departments.
The Police,&
fire chiefs are capable to determine who are on call twenty four seven within
their departments who must have their city vehicles 24/7. As well as the city Building Department for
the inspectors that are subject to 24-7 on call status.
I am sure the Health department may also have the same status as well.
The Common Council membership should not attempt to micromanage City Departments but place their trust in their department heads they have selected to make those calls.

The issue is that under little Mack's misguided leadership Tim O'Brien, Phil Sherwood and the their fellow libs on the Council ran amuck and have dug us into a huge hole that we can't get out of.
Had Mack & Company not put the city in this huge mess, we wouldn't have to take these drastic measures to pay for all their madness.

Some of our Directors and Dept. Heads live at a considerable distance out of town. It is unreasonable that they should tie up city vehicles on a 24/7 basis. Upkeep, gasoline, tires, etc. are all expensive. Also the taxpayers shouldn't be subsidizing our employees' trips to lunch, to the bank, etc.. Carlozzi, as usual was grandstanding. With 13 votes, why did he not suggest these things before? Not one of his suggestions was novel. Give Erin a chance to change things. It takes longer to correct things than to screw them up. Thank God we no longer have a Sherwood to act as dictator and a rubber stamp Council to OK everything.
