A school voucher program would solve a lot of the problem because the hundreds of parents that would choose to send their kids to private school would reduce the number of teachers needed and ultimately schools themselves might be able to be closed because the inferior public schools would never be able to compete with the elite private schools because of their caring non-union teachers. It would be a win-win for everyone involved.
Please, , whatever was done by O'Brien was not done to make things better, it was done to try and get votes in the next election. Financially and in all other ways, O'Brien was inept. He raised NB's Mil Rate by over 8 mills and his Democrat led Council bonded for supplies, i.e., books and such. He put us in a hole financially that will be difficult to fix. One time revenues must not become a staple in putting together annual budgets.
A Mayor must budget for the whole city, not just for one department. And why is Saavedra doing all the talking? Has Cooper become a mute? Where is the BOE's Finance Director? Another mute? This won't wash Sharon. The taxpayers of New Britain must not pay for the sins of O'Brien and the 12 Bobble Head Democrats that voted for his budget. Let's see if our state legislative contingent stands up for all NB Taxpayers or just for themselves; how about it, Gerratana, Lopes, Sanchez, Tercyak? Speaking of Tercyak, does he ever come to NB?
