I guess you can't expect a bunch of socialists to understand this but these services are safer than the so-called government regulated taxis. The private sector regulates them by allowing customers to rate their experience so you can see if the person has a good track record, is a good driver, has a clean car, etc. This is a much better system than relying on some government bureaucracy that is only concerned with growing their empire to create more union jobs. If you are considering taking a ride with one of these drivers, you get to see real time reviews from past customers and can make the decision for yourself if you want to trust that person or not. When you call a cab, you don't even know who the driver will be, so once again the private sector does a better job than government.
