During this Sunday's "Capitol Report" on Fox 61,
Sean Wooden, Hartford City Council President, warned the viewers to be careful
of such election year promises as Senator McKinney's promise to eliminate the
income tax for people earning less than $75,000. Councilman Wooden
questioned that if Senator McKinney has such a plan that could actually pass in
the legislature, then after being his party's leader in the Senate for all
these years, why then hasn't McKinney eliminated the income tax a long time
ago? It has nothing to do with the Democratic Governor, because Mr.
McKinney was the Senate Minority Leader under the past Republican Governor, so
if it were such a great plan, he sure could have passed it then, couldn't
he?
This is one of the rare times that this editor agrees with
Mr. Wooden, however, it appears that Mr. McKinney's promise to at least
partially abolish the income tax is little more than smoke and mirrors,
otherwise, why did he not do this years ago?
Let us not forget another candidate for Governor who was
elected on the promise of no income tax. To quote Lowell P. Weicker Jr's
campaign promise: "An income tax would be like pouring gasoline on
the fires of recession." Let us not forget that after being elected
on the promises of no income tax, and a promise not to balance the budget on
the backs of state employees, right after he was elected, Mr. Weicker told us
that he wasn't governor long before he realized that the only way to balance
our budget was with an income tax, and then he also brought us record numbers of
layoffs of state employees--2 promises that simply disappeared right after he
was elected.
So when considering another wild campaign promise like the promise to eliminate the income tax on those earning less than $75,0000 while promising to continue to tax those evil rich people and balance the budget on their wealthy backs: let us remember that those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it!

McKinney is turning out to be more of a democrat every day.
Just knowing that the mayor is endorsing McKinney has me that much more confident he will lose because of her record for picking total losers.
Just about a month ago, she was all over the news "shoutin' for Boughton" until even Boughton was smart enough to accept he had absolutely no chance of ever possibly winning.
Now she has moved on to the next total loser of a R.I.N. O.
Mayor Stewart said on NBC CT she's not endorsing either candidate.
The President for the Connecticut Citizens Defense League (The state’s largest grass roots gun rights group) offers comments on a gubernatorial run by Senate minority leader John McKinney.
CCDL President Scott Wilson: “Senator McKinney was instrumental in implementing a historic gun control law with zero consideration for the constitutional rights of law abiding gun owners. With his deliberate act of siding with gun control supporters, there will be no support from CCDL for his run”.
The CCDL President also stated that other elected officials who went along with the Senate leader and voted in favor of the gun control law, could expect the same from the organization.
I remember seeing her on TV yelling "I'm Shout'in for Boughton" I guess that wasn't an endorsement?

Scientists Link Selfies To Narcissism, Addiction & Mental Illness
The growing trend of taking smartphone selfies is linked to mental health conditions that focus on a person’s obsession with looks.
According to psychiatrist Dr David Veal: “Two out of three of all the patients who come to see me with Body Dysmorphic Disorder since the rise of camera phones have a compulsion to repeatedly take and post selfies on social media sites.”
“Cognitive behavioural therapy is used to help a patient to recognise the reasons for his or her compulsive behaviour and then to learn how to moderate it,”
“Selfies frequently trigger perceptions of self-indulgence or attention-seeking social dependence that raises the damned-if-you-do and damned-if-you-don’t spectre of either narcissism or very low self-esteem,” said Pamela Rutledge in Psychology Today.
