Race & Bias Charged by DTC Chairman

I have recently criticized the Democratic Town Committee and its chairman for allowing Mr. Bozek to continue as a member of the Democratic Town Committee while opposing his own party’s endorsed candidate for Senate. Isn’t it about time for Democratic Party Chairman John McNamara to address this situation? How can a town committee member be allowed to repeatedly run against his party’s endorsed candidates, and be allowed to remain on the town committee for the party he so clearly condemns?”

Amazingly an article posted on the “NB Politicus” which is edited by the New Britain Democratic Chairman reports that Republican candidate Bozek has injected race into the Senate campaign. The article attributes a number of racial comments to Bozek sometimes using the code word “these people” and later identifying the meaning of “these people” as 80% minorities. The article also reports that Bozek “bitterly blamed” Hispanics for the loss of his last election for Senate.

I believe that this type of dialogue is meant to divert attention from the legitimate issues facing this district and certainly should not be tolerated by either party. Certainly the Democratic Town Chairman is aware of this information since he saw fit to report about it on his own blog, what remains to be seen, is what he is going to do to address this disturbing situation?

This is outrageous that either party would tolerate such hateful messages emanating from any candidate for public office. By allowing this hate monger to remain on the town committee, it sends a message to the community that the Democratic Party supports his hateful messages. For the Republican party to nominate him to their slate also creates an appearance that their party agrees with his open dislike for minorities and the poor. We need a candidate that will offer solutions to help our city's poor and underprivileged, not someone who so clearly dislikes them.

How do you explain that Bozek's long-time girlfriend is Asian? Doesn't seem like a prejudicial person to me!

Mr. Consciencious, if you read the story, his statements, as quoted by his own party chairman, all referred to Hispanics, so what does that have to do with Asians one way or another, never mind the price of tea in China?

I'm very upset that he wants to send all the minorities to East Berlin!

Too bad that race had to be injected into the senatorial race by the New Britain Democratic party chairman.

The last I heard, Obama hasn't won the election yet, which means we still have free speech in this country. If Bozek wants to go around bitching and complaining about blacks and hispanics, doesn't he have that right, at least until January when many freedoms may end forever?

Race should not be an issue in this campaign Chairman.

but shouldn't the chairman share that info if he knows that one of the candidates is a racist?

All minorities should not be sent to East Berlin...They should also be sent to all of Berlin, and Farmington.

Nunca votaría por tal racista y me cercioraré de que todos mis amigos y familia del latino sepan qué se está encendiendo con este individuo.

I finally get it! When he said he wanted to send all minorities to East Berlin, he must have meant the one in Germany!

If John MacNamara is so right in his column regarding Tom Bozek's racial statements, how about having it published in the Herald or the Courant, for all residents to read? Not everyone has access to a computer or the Internet.

How Community Organizer Elena Trueworthy’s job of organizing low-income families in New Britain’s North-Oak neighborhoods laid the political ground work that contributed to state senator Tom Bozek losing his senate seat.

When the wife of Alderman Michael Trueworthy was asked what she learned from her experience as a community organizer in New Britain’s North-Oak neighborhood, Elena stated in the publication “FREE TO GROW’ - that community organizer should be patient with the process.

And when trying to build a partnership, identify the other person’s self-interest. What’s in it for them? People are more likely to enter into a partnership if they see what they will get out of it”.

Elena strategy was to identify a small number of committed North-Oak residents and build on them. She began by going apartment to apartment explaining what a Community Organizer was all about. It’s all about visibility – to recruit prospective community leaders from the ranks of low-income families, primarily mothers like Sylvia Cruz who became an Alderwomen in the City of New Britain’s third ward.

When Elena’s Hispanic residents became Register Voters the four-term of Democratic incumbent Senator Tom Bozek ended. He lost his seat to Don DeFronzo.

Everything I keep seeing on Fox News is that Community Organizing is just code words for socialism or even communism.

Why haven't we heard anything from Republican Town Committee Chairman Paul Carver on the issue of race in this campaign as reported by the Democratic Town Chairman, or by his inaction, is he silently endorsing the racism by one of his endorsed candidates.

Town Crier, it might be possible the Republican Town Committee is not all wrapped up in bigotry..the Democrats are the one making a huge issue of it. Perhaps you should call Paul Carver, and ask him directly if he is endorsing Bozek's racism? I don't know why everyone is so hyper about this...we all know Bozek doesn't have a chance on beating DeFronzo.

I'll bet Mr. Carver is really proud of this endorsement.

We're beating a dead horse here. There must be other issues of more substance to discuss...we all know that Bozek is not going to win, so how about dropping it??

you are right that Bozek is a dead horse
