Salvio's Vindictive Actions Cost our City

The New Britain Common Council members in order to close the current fiscal year were completely astounded to be advised of an unanticipated shortage in excess of one million dollars.

Thanks to Alderman Salvio in his quest to rid of the Council’s tool to be alerted well in advance of any financial problems occurring by the council’s internal part time auditor. The purpose of this auditor was to evaluate all financial standings for the Council members.

Mr. Salvio made it his mission to make her tenure most miserable until she could no longer withstand the verbal abuse and resigned. Mr. Salvio was backed up by Mayor Stewart with his stated the democratic council member’s claims of more financial oversight is required is ridiculous and irresponsible when we have a finance director on staff.

Aldermen Sullivan & Karp both were surprised of the mayor’s being against the internal auditor because they both felt no public corporation this size would operate without an internal audit that actually saves municipalities money. Karp continued by opposing the Mayor’s point of view by stating that an internal auditor can also keep an eye on things that an outside auditor cannot see in an annual review.

Lou unfortunately, the taxpayers cannot accept this kind of misguided representation with their having to pony up more taxes for your vindictive actions towards a part time valuable resource for the entire city council.

Is it really surprising that this guy shooting off his fat mouth apparently forced out a good city employee or cost the taxpayers money? The only surprise is that he hasn't scared away more town hall employees or cost the taxpayers "mo money", or has he?

Salvio just change your rotten attitude. That is like teaching an old dog new tricks

EVEN A BETTER QUESTION, IT IS A WONDER WHY ANYONE WOULD VOTE FOR HIM!

Such venom towards a council member who tells it like it is! Geeze!

maybe Salvio should remember who he represents and not have so much venom for the people of this city.

I seem to remember Salvio being against an outside auditor, since the city has it's own auditor. Were (are) the Democratic council members suggesting there was hanky panky in the way the city runs things? Seems to me hiring an outside auditor is/was a waste of taxpayers money. Let's stop with the party politics, and serve the citizens of New Britain, like you all were elected to do.

Political Environmentalist, could it be that maybe there was something that Salvio didn't want the auditor to find?

If there was anything an Alderman doesn't want found, it will come out sooner or later, with or without an extra auditor. That's what political campaigns are for.

A resolution on how the New Britain Common Council sets their meeting agenda (The Mike Trueworthy agenda) was submitted by Lou Salvio at 08/24/08 Common Council meeting.

When Salvio introduced the resolution, he moved to send it to the Administration, Finance and Law Subcommittee for discussion and public hearing on the merits of the resolution.

There was no discussion on the proposal with the 11 council Democrats voting no. No to sending it to subcommittee for discussion and public hearing.

Is this an example of the current New Britain Common Council Democrats brand of democracy in action? No public hearing?

Why????

That is simple, Salvio represents the NOTHING PARTY in New Britain and is simply an irritant on the council with no real chance to pass anything, just shoot off his mouth with nothing to back it up because as long as he is a Republican, he has no real authority on the council!!! Next time he wants an issue addressed, he should try getting a Democrat to submit it.

Aldermen! - Why No Public Hearing on The Agenda Proposal?

Anonymous said...

THE PUBLIC WANTS A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE AGENDA!

We'd Like To Know What Aldermen Are Thinking About Their No Vote Agenda?

What Does Frank Smith Says NB...Say About The Agenda?

Step Up To The Plate...Frank?

Unfortunately, I cannot step up the plate regarding the agenda since I am not an Alderman and able to speak obut it first hand however,it is unfortunate that the republican Alderman was not granted the sub-committee review that he wished to have heard.

why would you want those losers to vote on anything? the more they vote, the more they interfere with our lives. look at this b.s. with this stupid f.o.i. law they passed. what a mess that created. the best thing they could do for all of us is vote for adjournment one minute after they adjourn and go on vacation the way they do in congress.

The key issue here is a Public Hearing, a PUBLIC HEARING. When Alderman Lou Salvio introduced the resolution, he moved to send it to the Administration, Finance and Law Subcommittee for discussion and PUBLIC HEARING on the merits of the resolution.

Tonilyn Collins Chair of the Administration, Finance and Law Subcommittee was not present at the last three meetings of her Subcommittee. The Question...WHY?

sounds like they just look at who proposed it, and when they see Salvio's name on it, just file it in the circular file.
