Section 4.7 of the City Charter, however, specifically disallows a vote by a member when there is a monetary or personal interest.

According to the section, “No member of the Common Council shall be heard to speak upon, nor shall be allowed to vote upon, nor shall be appointed a member of any committee to consider, any matter in which the member has a direct pecuniary interest. Any violation of this provision shall be grounds for expulsion of any member violating the same.”

IMPEACH! Here is your authority to begin immediate impeachment proceedings Mr. Mayor.

IMPEACH, NOW!

He can only get away with this if the public lets him. He has violated the law, a law which gives the specific penalty of expulsion from the board of alderman, so now he must face the consequences. REMOVE HIM FROM OFFICE NOW!

If you, the public let him get away with this, then you deserve the non-representative government you are going to get. Call the mayor's office and demand that this self serving individual be impeached. That is the penalty spelled out in the law, so why should he be allowed to remain in office?

Imagine if Alderman Salvio did this? Does anyone doubt that we would already be having hearings in the Senate.

IMPEACH HIM NOW!

Frank: Catanzaro admits in today's Herald that he himself voted against a reprimand recommended by the NB Ethics Commission against him (Catanzaro). Catanzaro has committed yet another Ethics violation. It follows then that his 12 Democratic colleagues on the Council are complicit in this latest violation! Shouldn't al 13 of them be impeached?!! What a bunch of dolts!!

He ought to be impeached! He is getting more arrogant every week. Every one of us should contact the Mayor to have him impeached...Every one of the Dems who stood up for him should also be impeached. None of them...or us, for that matter... is above the law. Call, e-mail, or talk to the mayor in person to encourage him to impeach Catanzaro!! Stop letting him get away with this arragance!

Mayor Schedules Office Hours:
Mayor Timothy Stewart will have open office hours from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday to give residents a chance to discuss issues that concern them.

Everyone who feels Catanzaro and his Democratic colleagues on the Common Council ought to be impeached on this matter should attend Mayor Stewart's open office hours on Tuesday February 17 and ask him to impeach the whole bunch.

EVEN IF YOU CAN'T ATTEND THE MEETING, CALL THE MAYOR AND TELL HIM YOU WANT ACTION THIS TIME. DON'T LET THIS ALDERMAN GET AWAY WITH SUCH A SERIOUS VIOLATION OF THE CHARTER. CALL THE MAYOR'S OFFICE AT 826-3303 AND TELL HIM TO BEGIN IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS!

Where is ethics czar Phil Sherwack to condemn Catanzaro's blatant violation of the charter? Do you think if Lou Salvio voted against his own reprimand, Sherwack would call it "Doing The Right Thing" as he did in this case?

This is how he so deservingly earned the title PHONY PHIL!

This is the definite proof of what a phony sherwack is. If he was mr. ethics as he claims, he would be the 1st one to be condemning what cantazaro did, but because it is one of his fellow kooks, not a peep out of him. don't we deserve better than sherwack's constant lies?

Frank:

Some of your readers and fellow bloggers have called for Catanzero's impeachment. Would that one of them would show up at the Mayor's Office at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 2.17.09 and in person, tell that to the Mayor. Also, why doesn't Director of Parks and Rec. (DeMaio) fire Catanzero for his attendance record in his job at P&R and other employee transgressions? NO COHONES! You bet.

THAT IS THE ENTIRE POINT ABOUT THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST. CATANZARO IS FREE TO DO AS HE WISHES AND HIS BOSS IS POWERLESS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, BECAUSE AS AN ALDERMAN, IN EFFECT, HE IS HIS BOSS'S BOSS. THAT IS WHY IT IS SO MORALLY WRONG TO ALLOW AN EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN. IF YOU THINK THAT CATANZARO'S BOSS IS FREE TO TELL HIM WHAT TO DO, THEN YOU ARE DREAMING.

I usually refrain from comments such as this but, based on these photos of the alderman, could be his eating habits might remove him
from office and employment before any rational, ethical solution is made.

GOOD IDEA! WHY DOESN'T SALVIO DO IT ? OR FRANK SMITH?

How about if one of the silent Democratic majority on the Council does this, like the usually silent former security officer Centeno or the loquacious Eva M. or Rocha or Black or Cruz or Collins or, "I can get it for you cheaper", Platosz or, never mind?!

HOW MANY CHINS DO YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO?

You call them silent, it is more like brain dead.

This list reads like the dumbest of the dumb, in other words, MUSHROOMS

That is why I laugh my butt off when I hear about the Democrats challenging Tim Stewart. If you look around the council table at what the Democrats consider their "elite" Tim Stewart will be mayor for the rest of his life if he chooses to. You couldn't scrape up a brain between all 13 of those dimwits.

security officer Centeno, when did he ever stay awake during a meeting? Did they wake him up for his vote?

"Read today's (2.14.09) Herald. Catanzaro admits that he committed yet another ethics violation at the 2.11.09 Council meeting by discussing and then voting against the Ethics Board's recommendation that he be reprimanded for his ethical lapses. Even the self-proclaimed NB ethics czar Phil Sherwack said he doesn't know why Catanzaro voted against his own reprimand. Did Catanzaro think nobody would notice? What a bad joke against New Britain citizens!! If Catanzaro doesn't resign, he should be impeached."

Every time this Catanzaro guy opens his mouth he commits another ethical violation - this is inevitable for he is; a city employee (Parks Dept.), a member of Union Local, 1186, the President of the HRA Board and to top it all, an Alderman. He's done it so many times now that readers of his blog are calling for his expulsion from the Council.

Add to the problem that the other twelve Dems on the council support him and these conflicts so, who suffers? The citizens and taxpayers of New Britain are the ones that suffer! When do the Dems start worrying about the other 71K people of New Britain and not just thmselves? People should show up in droves at the next Council meeting and demand Catanzaro's ouster.
