NEW BRITAIN: Forum Tonight Thursday March 26, 2009 On State Budget at 6:30 p.m.
Members of the city's legislative delegation will host a community forum on the state's budget and how it might affect the city. State Rep. Christopher Donovan, D-Meriden, speaker of the state House of Representatives, is scheduled to attend.
The forum is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the common council's chambers in city hall. Residents are invited to attend. Legislators will talk about the current status of budget negotiations, and people may ask questions.
$8 Billion in the hole and they are taking their "get Rell" go CCAG campaign on the road? Sorry. Solve the problem. That means staying in HARTFORD! That's why you all were elected. So much for a uber majority. You guys are like the gang that couldn't shoot straight.
M. Jodi Rell is the most popular governor in Connecticut history, and was the most popular governor in America until Sara Palin took that title from her, and the liberals can't stand the thought that conservatives are so popular in America!
Back to selling the bricks from Pinnacle Heights...What a grand idea...many who lived there in the '60's have fond memories, and want a reminder of the good times spent there. Where will the proceeds of the sale of the bricks go? At $5 a brick, a substantial amount of money could be made...Perhaps the proceeds can be spent on a community and youth center, for all residents.

HOW ABOUT JUST GETTING THE LEGISLATURE TO STOP GIVING THE MONEY AWAY, AS IF IT GROWS ON TREES? You seem to have the same problem we have here in Massachusetts, they call it Democrats!

It seemed more like a pile on Rell convention to me. I hope people will begin to see the tactics our CCAG approved democratic legislators are using.
Instead of addressing issues in a forthright and honest manner the Democratic members (particularly the liberal ones) of the legislature have chosen to pass faux budget bills that they do not support. Apparently in an effort to appear as if they are going to restore programs and funding.
In essence politics as cinema.
I urge our state Democratic legislators to first propose a budget that they support. Then use the legislative houses to debate, negotiate and ultimately pass a compromise budget.
5th District Race: GOP’s Justin Bernier Throws His Hat Into Political Ring....
NEW BRITAIN — Stating that he is running for Congress with a responsible economic plan, Republican Justin Bernier told a group of Farmington Town Seniors in the Town’s Senior and Community Center his district needs more common sense and job creation in the private sector.
An Afghanistan veteran and former Gov. M. Jodi Rell appointee, Bernier will face incumbent Democrat Chris Murphy this fall in the 5th District race in November 2009.
Speaking before a group of 50 supporters, Bernier pledged that his campaign would offer voters an alternative to out-of-control government spending. The Fifth District includes the Farmington Valley, New Britain, Meriden, Danbury and parts of Waterbury and Torrington.
Rather than more government spending, Bernier outlined a plan for job creation that would, he said:
*Reduce government spending;
*Encourage U.S. exports through tax credits;
*Remove overseas trade barriers to ensure fair trade for American companies;
*Reject tax hikes for all Americans;
*Encourage job creation in America with a reasonable business environment;
*Lower energy costs by using all forms of energy responsibly; and
*Unleash innovators and entrepreneurs to bring about the next technological breakthrough in America.
Republican Justin Bernier, a Farmington native, and his wife Jennie, an FBI analyst and former teacher, live in Town of Plainville.
