Open Letter From Mayor Timothy Stewart to FSSNB

Thanks for the comments.

I just finished with my open office hours (8:30pm)and met with over a dozen people with various issues that needed attention. Some even come in to offer assistance with the myriad of problems facing this city. I am constantly amazed at the people who continue to want to help in any way that they can. I thank the citizens for keeping me engaged in this process and continually making it so rewarding in spite of the negativity I have to deal with twice a month from the Common Council.

Mayor Stewart,

I appreciate the "meet the Mayor" Nights. They provide a rare glimpse into the workings of the city’s government.

When I read the announcements in the paper it always gets me to thinking of ways to bring the municipal governmental process to the people.

With the advent of the web I have always thought that a webcast of the council meetings would be an economical way to provide further access.

I believe that there are many "young" citizens would WOULD drop in on these webcasts.

Teachers at the high school could access them for a real life education in civics.

Just a thought.

Also why are the lights @ the Washington park basketball courts allowed to remain on after 10 pm when the park (according to a sign posted at the parking lot adjacent to the playground) is supposed to close @ 10 PM?

Mr. Mayor,
Keep up the good work. Anonymous was correct in an indirect way. People like the job that you are doing but I fear you're gaining a reputation of someone who personally attacks those around you, even your allies.
No politician is untouchable and some have started to say that they think that you think you are.
Be humble, don't get angry over spilled popcorn, and just keep doing the work and you will be fine.
Your record speaks for itself.
A concerned ally.

In a recent diatribe posted on the Democratic Town Chairman's web site apparently meant to attack the mayor for resisting the Democratic council's flavor of communism for New Britain, the DTC Chairman makes reference to the "right wing media extremists who attack President Obama."

From my seat in the bleachers, it is people like you who are the extremists, Mr. Chairman.

The right wing media you are so proud to attack represents main stream America. You know, all of us who are working so hard to pay our taxes so liberal loons like you are free to seize all our income through ever increasing taxation and give it away like it grows on trees.

By the way, if that right wing media you are referring to is so extreme, then why is Bill O'Reilly's show the most watched news program in America for over 8 years, and why did his show outperform CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and Headline News combined? Also, why is Fox News the most watched news channel in America? Why in the last month did O'Reilly's show grow by 63% of the market share for his 8PM show and 71% for his 11PM re-rerun? That's right, even his reruns outperform your government run media that increasingly has no one watching.

It would seem that the channel that more Americans are watching is becoming the mainstream media, while the government run media is what most of us hard working Americans would call "extremist."

Just think, if we didn't go to work and pay our taxes, who would be paying for all those socialist programs that you are so fond of?

Like Margaret Thatcher once said, the reason socialism fails is because sooner or later, socialists run out of other people's money to spend.

A Concerned Ally-
You apparently realize that if you told Mr. Mayor your concerns face to face that he would personally attack you as well.
“Be Humble”? That is not in his nature, he is a fowl mouthed, drunken, outrageous bigot who couldn’t keep his word if he tried and thinks people are his to order around and if you don’t jump when he pulls your stings then he cuts you up and down till you give up and walk away from your service to our city.
It’s a shame because I once thought of him as a good leader…boy do people change when given a little power.

It amazes me that people who have their own agendas and can't get them accomplished will then blame the mayor for their political gamesmanship, all because they want to be somebody important in their neighborhood (Marzi). Try getting a real job and put your energies into making a living instead of playing politics. The mayor certainly is not afraid to tell someone to screw if they are being a jerk to him. God Bless him! We need more honest people who are not afraid of lefties in office and more will get done!

Don DeFronzo spent 4 years as Mayor of NB. Also 8 years as Chirman of the Board of the NB Housing Authority. He has said that his focus was on the neighborhoods and not on commercial development. He failed miserably at both jobs. Now he and his state representative cohorts are working hard to block or stop anything positive attempted by Mayor Stewart.

They have been joined by DTC Chair "Little Mac" and Council wackos, Trueworthy, Bielinski, Hermanowski, Sherwood and Gerratana. The other 8 Dems are just there to vote. When was the last time the NB Dems on the Council and our State delegation did anything positive for NB?

Ever been to an open door night? I watched him roll his eyes, look at his watch, stare at the ceiling and my favorite: "I'll look into that (there's the door)".
