Black & Decker operates huge plants in Florida, Texas, and Arizona--3 states that are considerably more business friendly than Connecticut and where unions are either illegal or have very few rights, so how long do you think they will keep their plant here in Tax and Spend Connecticut--where under the hands of the liberals in the legislature, we are chasing businesses out of Connecticut like rats jumping off of a sinking ship.

Sounds like whoever is elected mayor will just have that many more empty buildings to deal with in New Britain, thanks mostly to the Democrats in the legislature doing everything in their power to "punish" those rich business owners!

in the end, we can thank O'Brien for helping to run another major employer out of Connecticut, can't we?

How could anyone vote for a Democrat tomorrow with the way they are trying to destroy our country by turning it into a socialist country?

Why sould O'Brien care if the industry moves out of New Britain.

He doesn't even live here. New Britain is not Manchester.

At the least, despite the naysayer who commented first, The stanley Works will maintain its main headquarters presence in New Britain. That's not good enough at this time for you? Count your blessings!

Pray that Tim Stewart gets re-elected, so he can use his persuasive abilities to keep Stanley/Black & Decker here in New Britain, and help fill up some of the vacant Stanley buildings again, such as those on the corner of Myrtle and Stanley Streets. Tim O'Brien doesn't have the ability to negotiate with these people...look what he and his Working Families/Acorn did to WalMart! At least Stanley and Black & Decker have lots of potential to grow.

If Tim Stewart could not keep Famous Daves from leaving town,
he has no chance of stopping Stanley works from exiting

Why would Black and Decker want to pay the outrageous costs of doing business here in CT, when they already own huge plants in Texas, Florida, and Arizona, where there are virtually no taxes on businesses, not to mention no unions?
I'll bet the labor costs in those 3 states is less than half of what it is in Connecticut, and O'Brien tried to pass a 30% income tax on all businesses in this last legislative session. Thankfully, Governor Rell vetoed it.

If Tim Stewart could not keep Famous Daves from leaving town,
he has no chance of stopping Stanley works from exiting--O'Brien's solution would be to raise their taxes 30%--that will keep them here, won't it?
