""DeFronzo said he has been opposed to the busway for a decade, but “I put myself in the resigned to the busway category."
He doesn’t believe that people will drive from Bristol or other towns into New Britain to get on a bus for the commute to Hartford.
“I just don’t see it working,” he said but thinks the busway will be built anyway."
This kind of negative attitude toward business and economic develepment has been DeFronzo's mantra since he was Mayor. NB's state legislative contingent has been interested in just one thing since the death of Tony Tercyak, to wit, build up the welfare/entitlement rolls in NB to create an ultra liberal, Democrat voting base. This cult employs heavy handed, union/ACORN/SEIU troops to keep the welfare state in line. Our NB state legislators will do anything to see that NB fails in its quest to become economically successful. The busway is important to the development of NB's downtown reconstruction project. DeFronzo and O'Brien with the help of Trueworthy, Sherwood and Council Democrats are working hard to see that fail. The editorial boards of the Bristol Press and The New Britain Herald seem to be complicit in this venture. They seem - as can be seen in two articles on the Busway in today's Herald - bent on keeping opposition to the Busway on the "front burners." And, which NB/Berlin/Farmington legislator's name stands out in opposition? Right! It is Don DeFronzo! The three towns in the 6th. State Senatorial District need to identify a "Scott Brown" type of candidate to remove DeFronzo.
Larson is doing what he does best: talking out of both sides of his mouth. He says he backs the busway, but is still open to the idea of the rail system. All he is doing is pandering to both sides because this is such a difficult year for any Democrat to win an election and it is the first time where he will actually have to work to win reelection.
Nice anti-New Britain business attitude for the Senator who represents New Britain, and not Bristol. Maybe someone should remind Defronzo who he is supposed to represent, or better yet, maybe we need someone new to represent the interests of New Britain over special interests. I wonder what is in it for Defronzo if the railway is built???????

anonymous is correct that the Senator doesn't represent Bristol voters and is time to replace him at the ballot box.

Defronzo is pushing the same brand of socialism that the people are rejecting from Obama, so how hard could it be to get rid of him in November?
The usual double talk from Larson: he supports the busway and he supports the rail!
