The rest of you better get a 2nd job so you can pay all the taxes this socialist wants to force upon you to fund the cushy ride of these state employee unions.

What example is Governor Danno setting?

He lives a free house with servants provided by the taxpayers. He is driven anywhere he wants to go by a state trooper. We even pay for his meals being cooked by the chef in his house, and when he eats out, we pay for that too.

Why does he need his full $150,000 salary.

Why doesn't he lead by example and give some of that money back?

Unions are the problem said...

This arrogant entitlement mentality being demonstrated by this elitist is a perfect example why I will not spend my money with any business that employs union labor.

For example, I refuse to shop at Stop & Shop because they are completely unionized--which is demonstrated with most of their prices being twice that of their competitors (so it is a win-win situation because I also save a bundle)!

I would gladly drive 50 extra miles in a blizzard to travel to a Big Y, Shop Rite, Stew Leonards or Walmart to buy my groceries before I would ever spend $1 at a Stop & Shop.

The point is this. Governor Malloy's obligation is to present a balanced budget. Instead of doing what he is required to do, he has plugged in a billion dollars in unspecified state employee concessions. Without those concessions the budget is grossly out of balance.

It's also interesting to note that most of the potential concessions which the Governor has identified are unlikely to extend beyond the 2011-2013 biennial budget. That means that, even if the Governor gets the concessions that he is looking for, two years from now the state will be lookingb at another billion dollar shortfall.

Why don't the legislators lead by example?

Since their jobs are intended to be part time, why don't they end the practice of providing free health care for the legislator and their families, and also end the lifetime state pensions for anyone who serves 5 years or more?

Being a legislator is not intended to be a full time career, so let them get these benefits from the 2nd job they are supposed to have.
