Hammering at an issue that Democrats hope will sink Mayor Timothy Stewart's run for state Senate, NB council president Michael Trueworthy has called for the city to temporarily stop buying products or services from businesses owned by elected officials, Mark Bernacki and Willie Pabon.

Trueworthy said Monday 02/14/11 that he's basing the proposal on Democratic State Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo's declaration last week that she was asking the chief state's attorney to investigate no-bid contracts during Stewart's administration.

But on Monday afternoon, the chief state's attorney said it had never seen any such request. We've received no complaint on that matter, spokesman Mark Dupuis said.

I'm not surprised at all. This whole thing has been a ruse, Republican Town Chairman Dwight Blint said.

The only problem with these sleazy tactics normally deployed by Democrats is that now there are a number of methods for the truth to get out and expose their lies. This blog for example, and this is also the reason for the enormous success of Fox News because people are tired of the liberal propaganda spread by so-called traditional news outlets and are searching for ways to find the truth without the liberal spin.

Perhaps the biggest mistake for Gerratana was to take advice from a dinosaur that came from the days when the Herald was the only news source and he apparently could control every word that was printed.

This issue is about a provision that lets department heads in New Britain make purchases under $3,000 without going through the full bidding process. By the way, most communities have a much higher threshold - meaning department heads in those communities can spend $5K or as much as $10K without going to bid. New Britain initially had a higher threshold, but it was reduced by Mayor Stewart to better control spending.; February 15, 2011 at 3:30 PM

This just exemplifies that Democrats have absolutely no plan to offer. They can't run on their own failed policies which are proving disastrous for our state, and country, so the only chance Democrats have is to distract the public's attention from their own dismal records by making up issues against their opponent where none exists.; February 15, 2011 at 4:56 PM

FOR THE STATE, THE LIMIT IS $10,000 before it has to go to bid. Under that, the department can do whatever they want.; February 15, 2011 at 5:30 PM
