Wasn't it Avalon who wanted to hand out condoms and birth control pills to children of any age and wanted the schools to provide abortions, and even wanted a policy that said it was none of your business as parents?

New Britain Board of Education Parents Notice!
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

If your are concerned about the recommendation of Dr. Aram Ayalon to hand out CONDOMS, BIRTH CONTROL PILLS and provide ABORTIONS for your children no matter how old they are, you need to attend the following meeting to voice your concerns:

The Board Members are planning to have this matter on their agenda at their March 15 meeting which starts at 7 PM at the Board of Education Headquarters, 272 Main Street.

This is the most progressive movement intended to strip your authority as a parent over your child's well being, and necessitates your attendance in order to make your comments known to all the board members prior to their vote.

If you don't act now to stop this lunacy, you may find you have no authority over these issues when it comes to your own children.

Act now to stop these radicals from coming between you and your children on these important moral issues!

I hope that the minds of the candidates are not as vacant as these pages.

Did you mean March 15?

What do the current candidates think about handing out condoms in school. And what are their thoughts concerning ABORTION.

I have heard some of the condidates opinions and I am a little upset that they do not put there real name to their opinion.

Public school officials (teachers, etc) in my opinion, have been asked to do too many things for which they are not capable. I maintain that 99+% of teachers don't know enough about the medical aspects of abortion to discuss it with adults, much less the children of other parents. In addition, I maintain that public school officials, especially the BOE are not familiar with the cultural and religious mores of the vast diversity of students in their charge. If abortion is to be discussed it should be privately with those involved and their parents.

Condoms. This issue has already been decided by society. I don't believe our public schools should become just another superstore, supermarket or pharmacy where anyone can purchase them in a variety of colors or other categories. If a school nurse is asked for condoms, they should not be given unless the parent of the student is called first. Schools have to get permission to hand out medications. They should do the same with condoms.

Case closed.

I guess the parents would be OK with a board member who wants to dish out birth control pills like Chicklets and perform abortions on 12 year olds without it even being any business of their parents?
